"Papi, have you seen my tablet? I have to log onto my class in ten minutes." I yelled to my father who was downstairs. I was in the process of cleaning off my desk so it wasn't so messy when I logged onto my first zoom class of the fall semester.
"Si, its down here on the table." My father shouted back to me. I let out a sigh as I ran down the stairs, almost falling as my socks made contact with the hardwood floors. I caught myself on the railing of the stairs before I face planted.
"Honey, take it easy. It's only 8AM and I haven't had my coffee yet." My mom said with a smile on her face as she came out of the kitchen with my tablet in her hands. I smiled at her gratefully as I gave her a kiss on the cheek. The small blonde woman just shook her head and went back into the kitchen to finish making her morning cup of coffee. I turned around to see my dad standing in the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest, shaking his head with the ghost of a smile on his face.
"I am so nervous for classes to start, I'd be fine if they were in person but I hate the idea of learning through a computer screen." I told the tall, dark haired man as I was getting ready to head back upstairs to log onto my first class.
"I know Mija but try to make the most of it. One day the world will go back to normal." He said coming up and giving me a kiss on my forehead. I smiled at him before making my way back to my room. I sat down at my desk and pulled up the zoom call for my first class. I waited quietly as all the other students logged on. After about five minutes the teacher cleared her throat.
"Hello students, welcome to Introduction to nursing, let's get get started." Here we go

It was 2pm when I finally closed the laptop and let myself stretch out my back. I felt a few cracks go along down my spine as I did so. Classes had went better than I thought they would, but I was exhausted. I stood up from my desk and made my way to my bed. I threw myself down on the soft mattress an decided now was a great time to take a nap. I was almost asleep when someone knocked on my door. I groaned out a 'Yes.'
"Hi sweetie, how were your classes?" My mom asked coming and sitting on the edge of my bed. I rolled over and looked at her.
"Good, just tiring is all." I told her with a slight smile.
"I believe it, I'm just about to leave for my shift. I work a double tonight so I'll be home around 7am. Your dad went back on the twelves so he'll be home at 6am. Did you need anything before I left?" She asked pushing some hair off my forehead.
"No, I'm good. I love you have a good night though and tell the girls I say hi, I don't work till this weekend so I'll see everyone then." I told her with a soft smile on my face.
"Sounds good honey, Have a good night." She said getting up to leave "Oh and please call your cousin tonight, all I keep hearing about is how she can't get ahold of you, She misses you and said she needs to tell you something." She said as she was getting ready to shut my door.
"I'll call her after I nap." I told her laying my head on the pillow. She nodded as she closed my door. I let out a small sigh as I closed my eyes and drifted off into my dream land.

I woke up to my dad yelling a goodbye to me. I sat up and looked at the clock. 5:15pm Shit I slept longer than I had wanted to. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. My makeup was still in place for the most part, except the eyeliner that had smudged under my eyes, I quickly wiped it away and smoothed down my brown curls before walking back into my room and going to my desk. I pulled out my tablet and pulled up my cousins FaceTime information. I tapped on her contact and proceeded to call her. On the third ring she finally answered.
"Hey bitch!" She yelled at the screen.
"Nice to see you too Zel." I said with a smile as I looked at the dark haired girl sitting in wha looked like catering. She was wearing her ring gear.
"Two weeks I've been waiting for you to call me puta, What took you so long." Zelina asked with a frown on her face.
"I've been working and getting everything set up for school. I was busy, You get that more than anyone else." I told her folding my legs into my computer chair. Realization crosses her face.
"Oh I forgot about you going back to school, how's that going?" She asked. I was about to answer her when I heard someone yell 'Vega come here' She looked at me before speaking "Hold that thought, I'll be right back" She said. I gave her a thumbs up as she set the phone on the table with the camera pointed up at the ceiling. I just sat there tapping my fingers on thigh waiting for her to come back.
"Looks like Vega hasn't learned her lesson yet, Just let her phone sitting here." I heard someone laugh in the background, suddenly the phone was moving and a new face came onto the screen. He looked just as stunned as me.
"Umm, Hello." I said doing an awkward wave.
"Hi, who are you?" The man asked cocking his head to the side slightly.
"I'm Zelinas cousin." I told the unknown man.
"Well, Do you have a name?" He asked with a goofy smile on his face. I was about to answer him when Zelina started yelling.
"Seth Put my phone down and stop harassing her." Her voice came through the speakers of the IPad.
"I'm just trying to make a new friend." He said suddenly I heard a smack and the phone was switching owners again. Zelina appeared in the transfer but she wasn't the one holding the phone
"Ambrose give me my phone!" Zelina yelled at the man that was staring at me.
"Hello darlin' nice to meet you. Sorry I can't talk but here's my friend Roman." He said giving me a wink and handing me off to whoever Roman was.
"Hello." Roman said with a smile on his face before he finally transferred me back to Zelina. She se daggers their way before turning back to me.
"Sorry about that, Now where were we?" Zelina asked me but I only had one thought in my head
