Toby and I were walking home from school after a long week of exams just listening to music and talking about random stuff.
"Hey T we should like totally stop and get some ice cream." I say pointing to an ice cream truck on the corner.
"Um yes, but you're paying." He says grabbing my phone and skipping a song in my playlist.
"What no, no way. We're flipping a coin because no way am I paying." I say fishing a coin out of my pocket and handing it to him letting him flip it.
"I flip you call" I pause the music and we take our headphones out because this shit is serious. He flips the coin and I call heads.
"Dam you Fiore! I might've lost the the toss but I get to keep the coin so whos the real loser hm?" I swear he's so dramatic, I mean so am I but we don't talk about that.
"It's still you and it will always be you because I simply cannot lose" He scoffs and rolls his eyes. Like I said, dramatic.
"Whatever. What do you want?" He asks after we get to the truck.
"Oreo in a cone but I still want a uh- one of those things." I say waving my hands in the air as if it would help me remember the word.
"little things? Do you mean a spoon?" He asks looking just as confused as I am.
"Yes! That's it oh my gods I could kiss you!" I give him a quick platonic kiss on the cheek because we're best friends and you always kiss the homies. He turns away facing ahead waiting in line looking a bit flustered.
After we get our ice cream (him still grumpy about having to pay) we put our headphones back in and continue our walk home.
"So Rose, how's everything going with River?" He asks after a few songs play.
"Oh um about that, we kind of broke up like a month ago. We both just kind of lost feelings." I turn to look at him and he looks a very weird mix of shocked and happy for some reason.
"You what! Why am I just now hearing this!" I shrugged my shoulders not really knowing what to say. Honestly I didn't want to make a big deal about it because it didn't really bother me.
"I don't know just never had a chance to I guess." We're finally at our houses. We live next to each other, that's actually how we became friends.
"I guess that makes sense. Oh wait rose you want to go skate tomorrow?" He asks before I walk into my house.
"Yea sure"
"Ok I'll send you the details later. Bye Rosie!" He says smiling and waving as he starts walking inside his house.
"Bye Bye T!" I wave walking into mine.
