"Welcome to Hogwarts," Professor McGonagal said as she took a sweeping look at all the first year students, "Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats you need to be sorted into your houses."

"They are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin," she continued to explain, "Now, while you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose point," she said sternly, "At the end of the year, the house with the most points will be awarded the house cup..."

Just then a large toad jumped onto the step near the her feet, the boy that Hermione had mentioned earlier on the train ran forward, "Trevor!" he called.

Professor McGonagal looked down at him with a stern gaze and he backed away slowly still clutching the frog, "Sorry," he muttered as he disappeared into the crowd again.

"The sorting ceremony will begin shortly," she said and she left through doors into what Harry thought was supposed to be the Great Hall.

Suddenly the silence was broken by a cold drawling voice from behind Harry, "It's true then, what they're saying on the train."

It was a boy with slicked back blond hair and pale eyes that was speaking, he moved closer followed closely by two thuggish boys, "Harry and Aleah Potter has come to Hogwarts." He half spat out the twins names.

The other first years started to whisper and Harry could make out words like 'Harry Potter' and 'Did he say the Potters?' Ally glared at him obviously mad that he had used her full name.

"This is Crabbe and Goyle," the boy continued nodding to the two thuggish boys at his sides, "And I'm Draco... Draco Malfoy" he finished.

Ron snickered but it was obvious that the other boy had heard him.

"Think my name's funny, do you?" Draco said rounding on Ron; he looked him up and down in disgust, "No need to ask yours. Red hair, and a hand me down robe? You must be a Weasley." And it was evident from his tone of voice that he disliked Ron's family.

"We didn't ask your opinion, Draco." Harry retorted angrily as Ron blushed as red as his hair.

"You'll soon find out that some Wizarding families are better than others," Draco continued and Harry noticed him staring at Ally even though he had spoke up to this boy, Ally was in turn glaring back at Draco, "Don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort, I can help you there." Draco extends a hand to Lexi, who only glared down at his hand.

Suddenly Ally  started to chuckle loudly still glaring at Draco, "I hope you don't mean yourself?" she said and Draco's face fell, "Think we can tell the wrong sort for ourselves, thank you." She said turning her back on him.

Draco was still glaring at the two of them and Harry nodded to show his support, then the doors open and Professor McGonagall entered the room, she tapped Draco on the shoulder with a roll of parchment.

"We're ready for you now." She said and she led the way into a beautiful Great Hall.

Professor McGonagall showed the students through two double oak doors into a larger room, there were four long tables packed with students. In front was another table with all the professors looking down on the students'.
