She was flying, flying across the sky. She soared above the clouds, like she was free. It was anything she ever wanted, and now she had it. To be free. She landed on a crooked branch, through a hidden door, and leaped down the stairs to the empty throne room.
"My king and queen," she said, with her eyes closed and head bowed to show respect. "I have returned."
As she opened her eyes and looked around at the empty hollow, she realized that no one was sitting on the high-stones. But there was something on each of the high-stones. One was a crushed, laurel-style crown, the vines torn out of place and the flowers and leaves scattered across the high-stone. The other high-stone had two feathers on it, a grayish-blue and a shiny black. The crown and feathers felt familiar, and then she realized where she knew the items from. "I..it's... the queen's crown and the king's feathers!", she said in horror. She backed away from the high-stones, and exited the hollow. She ran down the empty tunnel and realized: no one was here. In a surge of panic and terror, she ran down the tunnel all the way down to the lowest level of the Sky Tree: the royal burial place. She passed the weathered graves, and went to the exit tunnel. She pulled the vine curtain open, eyes wide in fear, and screamed...
