Dimension Hoppers

Two Little Toy Animals

I felt the wind on my cheeks and my hair flowing out behind me as I ran, weaving in and out of trees as I did. My heart was pounding in my ears and though ever inch of my body, my eyes wide in fear, on alert for anything.

The ground beneath my ankle high boots was uneven, my green zip-up hoodie was flapping against my body. Stumbling ever so often over tree roots, soon I saw the river though the trees. I immediately put more force behind each of my strides as I ran closer and closer, a smile grew on my face until... I started falling forward, my arms out in front of me to catch my self as I hit the ground. I quickly turn to see the monster that was chasing me standing only a few feet away. And then... they started closing in...

Let me start from the beginning. My name is Luna Burner, and I'm a hopper. One of the few dimension hopper to be exact. Hoppers can go from one dimension to another and back. And that is not all we can do, we also have powers besides hopping.

But our powers reflect our personality. We can have elements or something different. Like controling shadows, bending light, making story's or art come to life. But the most rare one of all is those who can copy others powers, we have been a peaceful race of people. But that all changed the day that others came to try and take our powers for their own selfishness. But this was long before I was born...

You see I lost my mother and father to the hunters. My father I lost when I was younger about four, we where running from the hunters when we had to spilt up. My mother took me with her, as my father ran off in the other direction in hopes of leading the hunters away from us... My father never returned. My mother was killed a few years ago. I was ten and I am sixteen now. We lived in a cabin in the woods, it was hard to get to, but that was what made it safe. When a knock came on the door, my mother knew there would be trouble.

She told me to hide as she answered it, and she handed me two small toy animals that I had made. One looked like a wolf and the other a big cats cub, but they both where black with wings. Thier paws and tails white going up and fading in to look like stars. The underside of thier wings looked like a galaxy. The underside of the wolf wings where blue and fade to black with stars all over, and the cub's wings where the same but purple fading to black and with stars.

My mother looked at me and said.

"My sweet baby girl. Please listen to what I'm about to say."

She paused before going on.

"Me and your father were going to wait to tell you this. But you must know this now, yes we are hoppers and so are you, you do know this."

"But you are something special my baby girl, you are a rare kind of hopper. You can copy other's powers, don't let the Hunters ever catch you or all hope will be lost."

"but there is one last thing you need to know you are the daughter of-" just at that moment the door burst off its hinges and in walked many men. My mother then pushed me to the back door, and told me to run. I did but only to be grabbed by one of the men, I screamed and next thing you know my mother throws water at the man to make him let go. She re-catches the water in mid-air and repeatedly did the same to the other men.

Just then a loud bang was heard and then... my mother fell to the ground lifeless. I was so scared that I could not move from where I was, then a man grabbed me by the arm and roughly pulled me out of the house and to outside where a van was parked. Then my senses kicked into full gear and I stared fighting, it didn't seem to faze the man as he continued to pull me to the van.

Then I did something unexpected I throw the wolf into the air, my eyes glowed dark cyan. Then a dark cyan blast came out of my hand and hit the wolf, a loud howl filled the air as blue smoke surrounded the wolf. And then as soon as it hit the ground, the smoke cleared and there stood a five foot black wolf with wings. Blue faded to black with star spotted on the underside of the wings, with white faded star legs and tail.
