Dremoria was once a peaceful land. One where humans and magical creatures of all kinds lived in peace, until the convergence.
The convergence was a devastating event where the realms aligned in such a specific way that it launched creatures between realms. What it brought to Dremoria would destroy the careful and fragile peace in an instant...
...Werewolves.
Now, that probably wouldn't have been a problem, but the species that was managing to hold this peace together were vampires. Something about the werewolves enraged the vampires to no end and out broke a war that destroyed the peaceful society, replacing it with one filled with prejudice and hate. Murder and torture became common place.
The natural born magic users who used to keep the humans safe were outcast in the conflict and treat more like aggressive; dangerous monsters by the common public of the humans and their leaders.
Eventually the war died down when the werewolves numbers dwindled; they were hunted to near extinction and the remaining vampires, unwilling to lose any more people, returned to their isolated castles.
The naturally magical humans (Dorans) were forced into hiding alongside the werewolves and the truce was more fragile than before the werewolves arrived. A few of them returned to society by joining the growing profession of werewolf hunting, killing for gold and acceptance.
The remaining werewolves retreated to the forests hiding nearby the land of the Fae. Hiding here and building their hidden villages so close to the forest of the Fae earned them natural protection due to the Faes neutrality in the previous wars, and no one wanted to interfere with that for them...publicly anyway.
Now nearly 500 years later the werewolf villages thrive despite there still being a lingering fear and hatred of them as well as the consistent hunting of them, by the hunters guild. The Dorans were still outcasted to this day but found solace in the profession of werewolf hunting for the most part. Humans remained the dominant species as the vampires were yet to return from their solitude and the other species remained keeping to themselves.
