009: in where (m/n) takes some time for herself. (and brings alexis along lol)
(M/N) WANTED A CHANGE of pace. live somewhere else, start anew. but as everyone knows, change can be scary. she had stayed in australia for the past 20 years. never once, has she traveled out of the country.
but lately she's been in a slump.
"i need to get a move on in life. for gods sake i'm almost 40." she ranted to one of her long time friends. "why don't you just, pack up and leave australia?" (m/n) took a deep sigh, "i can't just leave here. (y/n) may be in college, but she still comes home to me."
"the least you can do is tour the world. it's been 25 years of you staying in australia, taking working endlessly to support (y/n). she's a grown woman now, take some time for yourself." (m/n) looked up at her ceiling, thinking about what alexis had said. "hm. i guess you're right. i should let her know that i will." she paused, "oh! how about i take you with me, alexis?"
alexis went dead silent, a pitched scream, making (m/n)'s ear go dead. "god damn alexis, should i take that as a yes?" alexis squealed, "oh my god!! yes!!! i'm coming over."
(m/n) quickly cleaned the place, snicker wrappers everywhere, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit. she mentally cursed herself for treating herself on this week. "i sure hope she doesn't ring-"
she was cut off by the sound of the doorbell.
"for fucks sake, every single time." she quickly threw the wrappers in the trash, inspecting the rest of her place. she shrugged, "eh good enough for me."
she trudged to the door, seeing through the peephole. "hey lex, is that you?" alexis answered, "no it's the pizza you ordered." (m/n) rolled her eyes, "piss off." she paused, "wait did you order pizza because i am starving." she opened the door, her nostrils happily greeting the smell of fresh, cheesy pizza. "oh thank god you picked up pizza."
(m/n) stood on one leg, "hold on how did you get here so fast?" alexis smiled, "secrets." she laughed, "yeah yeah. sit down. we need to discuss where to go and exactly how we tell her."
"well.." alexis started, "we've always wanted to go to greece. we could go there for a few weeks and soak in the culture." (m/n) thought about it, "ooh yes. lets do that.... so idea on how to tell (y/n)?" alexis rolled her eyes, "just tell her. i can assure you she wouldn't care, she's having a grand time in japan."
(m/n) nodded her head, "why didn't i think of that." alexis flicked her finger at (m/n)'s head, "dumbass."
(m/n) had pulled out her computer, opening it to facetime you. as soon as she saw your face, her palms turned sweaty, "oh shit oh shit oh shit, help alexis i dunno what to do." alexis took the phone, waving to you. "hi (y/n)! sorry about your mother, she's just a tiny bit nervous." you tilted your head, "hm? why? is she hurt? did something happen?"
your face was filled with worry, hoping everything was all safe at home. "mhm. it's not really anything to worry about, she's just being a drama queen." you sighed with relief, "oh thank god." you paused, "then what's wrong?" alexis took a deep breath, looking over to her friend, "here. why don't you talk with your mom." she gave the phone back, mouthing the words, 'tell her you wuss'
your mother looked at you, "hey sweetheart!! how are you? is everything fine? how is akari?" you rolled your eyes, "i'm doing fine mom, just the same as two hours ago. and yes, everything is fine. akari is in her classes at the moment, but she's doing amazing." you sighed, thinking about akari. "anyway. what's wrong with the both of you? you're acting super weird."
(m/n) smiled a bit, recognizing the face. brushing it off, she answered your question. "oh. uh i just wanted to let you know that.. imgoingtogreeceandiwontbehomeforabit." you blinked slowly, "what." (m/n) slapped alexis's shoulder, "see i told you she would hate the idea."
"woah woah woah. when did i ever say that? i was just super confused on what the hell you just said." alexis took back the phone, "she said that she was going to travel to greece with me and that she won't be home." a lightbulb came off in your head, "ohhh. ok." you shrugged your shoulders, confusing your mom.
"wait. you aren't mad at me?" she said in confusion. "ma you're like.. what 40?" she cut you off, "35, actually." you nodded, "mhm sure whatever you say — you a grown woman, you can do whatever the hell you want. plus, i'm not coming home anytime soon. i have mid-terms soon."
alexis laughed, "see. your child could give 2 shits about you going to travel." (m/n) smacked her, "language." alexis rolled her eyes, "oh so she can say hell but i can't say shit?" (m/n) nodded, "yes. that's exactly how it works." they bickered for a while, which ended up in you yelling.
"HELLOOO?? CHILD PRESENT HERE!!!!" (m/n) looked at you, "oh yeah. you still exist. i'll call you later, bye." (m/n) ended the call, not surprising you. "tsk. she makes it so obvious she loves alexis." you put your phone down, opening up your computer.
