ADDYSON:
ADDYSON ELIZA GRAY!
Yep, that's me.
Wait,... Hold on a sec. Was that my mum?
"Vieni qui adesso!"
Definitely yes.
Holy freaking Christ! My mum's back. I hope my dad isn't. I could still deal with my mum but never my dad. Oh fuck, I'm in deep deep shit.
'Since when are you not always in deep shit?'
"Addyson..." Cheese!
I jolted out of bed and sprinted to the kitchen. Sweet Jesus, that was a bad idea. I was having a very bad hang over. My head was throbbing hard. How many bottles did I drink? I got to the sitting room and boy was it a mess. Solo cups, beer bottles and all. Geez! Don't even talk about the kitchen. It was a complete disaster.
Why the hell do I have to party on a Sunday. This is Monday for Pete's sake.
"You're back." I said in the most awkward tone ever, both smiling nervously and scratching the nape of my neck. Seriously?
"Nope. This is my twin." Mum says sarcastically. "Che diavolo è successo qui?" There we go. She's mad.
I averted my gaze from my mum. "I...I...We..." My brain couldn't process any word and my throbbing head isn't helping. "I..." I tried again but nope, nothing to be explained. The answer is totally obvious. "Facevo le pulizie di primavera." The words came out of nowhere. I slapped my mouth shut.
What the actual fuck Addy!
My mum narrowed her eyes at me. "Spring cleaning?" Oh God. "Maybe you could explain that to your dad."
"No no no. Mama please. Non dirlo a papà. He will definitely kill me."
"And you didn't think of that before organizing a party in our house? On a Sunday?"
"Please mum, I swear, I'm sorry."
"I ain't got your time yet but know I'm not sparing you. I'll be leaving in five minutes. You'll have your punishment once you're back from school."
"Yes mum."
"Just clear all these mess and do all that needs to be done. No one entered our room?" I nodded a 'no'. "Get to work and make sure you make it to school early."
Great! "Yes mum."
"Just know one thing. Any more parties and your dad's knowing of your little secret."
"I promise." I raised my pinky finger.
She glanced at the kitchen once more before making her way to the door. She stopped abruptly. "And Eliza," I turned to her. "Scrub the sex off my couch." With that, she walked out.
Phew! That went well a little. But let's not forget the after school punishments. My mum's punishments are so terrible. Goodness gracious. I glanced at the time and sighed. 5:46am. Less than two hours to clean this mess. Mission one, take two pills of ibuprofen. Two, call Cara because there's no way in hell I'm doing this alone. Cara's my best friend since freshman year. Details for next. Mission three, get my ass to work. After downing two pills of ibuprofen, I went back to my room. I grabbed my phone at the bedside table and dialed Cara's number. It rang once before the call was answered.
"Hey girlfriend." She said with a yawn.
"Hey Cara. Could you come over please." I could hear shuffling sounds at the other end.
"K. I'll be there in five." She said and ended the call.
Thank God her house is closer to mine. Now, last mission to go. I began with my room. Grabbed the laundry basket from my bathroom and dumped the bedspread into it, replaced it with a new one. I did the same for the two guest rooms and put the sheets into the machine for washing. While I was heading to the kitchen, my mum came out of her room, already dressed in her work clothes.
"You take care of yourself darling and don't be late for school."
"Alright mum. Love you."
"Love you too." She planted a kiss on my forehead. "Your dad's arriving this evening. Going to pick him up at the airport. Had to arrive so early this morning because of an emergency at work."
Oh! That's why she was so early.
"We'll be late for dinner. Just stay awake."
"I will."
"Bye sweetheart." She hurried out of the door. I sighed and looked around the still so messy living room. Ah! Where on earth is Cara? Just then, the door bell rang. At last. I pulled my gloves and answered the door.
"It was war trying to get myself to stand." Cara said as soon as I opened the door. "I was having a bad hangover. Holy cow!" She exclaimed when she stepped in.
"You disappeared so early. Didn't notice you were gone."
"I had to sneak back home. My mum was supposed to arrive early. Wouldn't want her to notice me missing while the kids were all alone."
"Was she?"
"Lucky me. Now back to business. Never knew we caused a great mess last night."
"You know what's worse? My mum found out." I gave her another trash bag and gloves.
"Freaking shit! She was supposed to be on a business trip with your dad. Wait, does your dad know?"
"And I would be talking to you? He's still on a business trip. Mum came home because of some emergency at work."
"At least, we ain't in trouble. Any punishments?"
"Definitely. She also threatened to tell dad if I organize any party again."
"So,... No more parties?"
"We'll think of a plan."
"Great, girlfriend." We fist bumped and continued picking. "All these before school? It was a very terrible idea to party on a Sunday."
"Said so myself."
