this is a feels oneshot okay let's go.

scorpius sucked in a breath, wrapping his coat more firmly around himself. it was cold in the streets of boston, with snow gently falling from the sky and a windchill below -20 degrees celsius. the large flakes of snow kept clumping on his eyelashes, and he sighed a heavy breath. if only they had stayed in britain, he thought distastefully. he rushed along the streets, smiling slightly as he saw the little coffee shop that he had planned to meet with his old friends from school. pushing open the door, a small tinkling sound erupted from the bell attached to the door. he smiled at the owner who was wiping down the counter, a familiar face to him. she seemed to have stirred some memories, but she wasn't one of his best friends. maybe she was from the same house as him, or maybe they were in the same year, but they never interacted throughout his entire hogwarts experience. he smiled politely at her before he looked around the room.

he saw her first. her long dark hair flowed gracefully down her back. he recognized her hair, even though she had dyed the bottom white. it matches the snow, he thought, a small smile forming on his face. his eyes then scanned the boy sitting next to her. his mousy dark locks sat in curls on top of his head. they weren't very unlike when he was a teenager those few years ago. sighing softly, scorpius ran a hand through his straight blond hair. a smile worked its way onto his face as he enjoyed even that smallest bit of motion. even though she was a muggle, scorpius thought, that doctor was incredible.

scorpius slowly made his way to the table where his two old friends were sitting. he stopped feet behind them, gathering his courage. who he was absolutely resented who he'd been. he was an absolute arsehole, and he was tired of being remembered as one. what is the point of being remembered, he thought to himself, if there are only bad memories to fill the place where you once have been? there isn't. and i don't want that, he had decided years ago. breathing deeply, he walked over to the table.

"hey guys," he said, announcing his presence. the couple's eyes both focused on him, a look of recognition appearing on their features. "scorpius!" kiara yelled, a smile lighting up her always beautiful features. both she and albus jumped up from their chairs and they pulled him in for a giant hug. even though he had never really been one for physical affection, he happily accepted the embrace, the feeling of loneliness dissipating with the contact. they finally let him go and they all settled themselves down in their respective chairs.

"how are you guys doing?" he asked simply, watching as kiara launched into an explanation. her hand gestures were wild, the emotion evident in these simple actions. scorpius found himself lost in thought half way through her rambling, sadness coming over him. he did his best to mask the emotion, and he did a pretty good job, his lunch mates not seeing anything out of the ordinary of their old friend. at least that's what scorpius convinced himself, completely oblivious to albus' concerned look. scorpius began to pay attention again, listening to kiara describe the fantastic adventures she and her boyfriend went on. her boyfriend that so happened to be albus.

scorpius felt something stinging in his chest at the thought of that, one of his real friends ending up with the girl he was so hopelessly devoted too. but the stinging sensation went away rather quickly, as he reminded himself that if it wasn't albus, it would've been someone else. it never would have been him.

he watched their interactions closely, seeing exactly how in love they were. good for them, he thought, i hope they get their happy ever after, lord knows they deserve it.

scorpius's ears perked up as he heard the chiming of the bell. he looked up, meeting eyes with the beautiful red haired woman who entered the little café. her red hair was shorter now, cut into a bob. she she was dressed in a black skirt with a bright blue shirt, a black jacket over it and black combat boots on her feet. she looked beautiful, no, she looked absolutely stunning. scorpius tried his hardest to regain his composure as she made her way to their booth.
