"Not again," I shout at my dad.
"I know you don't like it when we have to move, but we need to or I will lose my job," he replies.
"I only have one friend, and he is here. What am I supposed to do? I won't have anyone to talk to," I say angrily. "We're moving across the state."
"You'll make friends. I am sure of it," he says. " And you can still call him."
"I can't believe you're making me move again. We move all the time and I'm tired of it," I say, as I storm upstairs to my room.
I slam the door behind me making sure he hears me so he knows how angry I am. I hop on my bed and call Josh to tell him the bad news.
"Yeah, we have to move again," I say.
Josh is my best friend, my only friend. I've known him for about 10 months. He was the only nice person when I first got to Francisco High School. I'm not the popular type; not many people like me. They're either mean, don't notice me, or on the very rare occasion, they become my best friend. It's usually the first two.
"Wanna hang out today?" I ask. "I want to spend a lot of time together before I leave."
"Sorry, I can't today. My grams is coming into town. Mom says I have to stick around until she leaves back out." He sighs.

"It's ok we can hang out some other time. Bye." I mumbled.
"Bye," he whispered.
I'm not going out of my room for the rest of the day. Not even for dinner. I just lay on the bed for a while staring at the ceiling.
Once my dad is finished with dinner he comes upstairs, to my room. He knocks on the door and mumbles under his breath "You should start packing." just loud enough for me to hear him. I don't open the door, I stay silent. After a few minutes of silence, he turns and walks away.
I don't want to talk to my dad, he knows how much I hate moving. Since my mom died 3 years ago we never stay in the same place, we're always moving. Never giving me a chance to make friends or be stable in one place. I fall asleep with these thoughts running through my head.
