As I did my chores in the barn, I thought about the previous night. I watched my mother because she not hungry. I tried to intercede, but all I accomplished was a bloody nose and an aching head. I blinked back into reality when one of my horses, Smokey, nudged me. The horses are some of the few pleasures of happiness and comforts in life. We have two, Smokey and Fire. Poor Smokey will be having a colt in a few months.
