That evening on the mountain changed everything

That evening on the mountain changed everything. I should have seen it coming, the moment this boring town got so much prettier, I should have known I developed a crush. I felt stupid for it, it had only been a few days since we met and yet it felt like my whole world was turned upside down. It made me sick, this was so unlike me! I never crushed on anyone, especially not after a couple of days. Things like this were supposed to take time and here I was, heads over heels for some British boy I would never see again after the summer ended.

Yes, that night on the mountain. I went back to his hotel afterwards as I didn't want to return to my family after what happened during breakfast. It couldn't be that bad, yet I didn't have the guts to face any of them. Nothing happened in his hotel and I once again slept great in his arms, never slept better to make it all worse, I simply had the gut feeling things with us were going too quick. Therefore I made the stupid decision to sneak out of his bed and avoid him for a couple of days. Maybe I could get over my crush in the same amount of time I developed one.

I stayed with Serena and her family. Even helped them out in the restaurant as a 'thank you for taking me in your house with no notice'. I borrowed some of Serena's clothes as we were basically the same size, except she was a few centimetres taller than I was, nothing we couldn't work with, her dresses just fell a little longer on me than they did on her.

"Carolyn!" Serena's father said as he barged into the kitchen. "A boy is asking for you!" I raised my brows as I made some coffee for a customer. I was pretty busy doing my work and I told Serena's father that, politely asking if he wanted to help him. "No, he is asking for you."

"What did he order?" I sighed, putting down the coffee on a tray. Serena took it out of my hands and offered to bring it to the customers. "I'll bring him the food if it means that much to him."

"He paid me fifty pounds for me to come and get you," the Italian said. "And I want happy people, so you should go there. We can split the money." I rolled my eyes at the man waving his money around in the air, making his wife look up from making those delicious cookies.

I gave him a nod and wiped my hands off to the apron tied around my waist. I also fixed my ponytail while walking to the entrance of the restaurant. I wouldn't say I assumed the customer to be Lando, though I wasn't surprised either. He sat on one of the stools at the bar, causing me to shake my head.

"I just want to know what I've done wrong," Lando said, leaning over the bar a little. I stood behind it with crossed arms and one of the fakest smiles ever, I somehow needed to look polite to not scare the other customers. Even though I wanted to relax this summer, I had done more than anticipated this week. "Did I say something that might have upset you? Because whatever I said, I didn't mean to hurt you at all."

"We were going a little too fast, there is no denying that," I explained. Lando nodded. "And I am completely aware of the fact we only have a few weeks to spend with each other, but I have known you for a week and I am already swooning over you!"
