10 AM Sunday Morningcruel world - lana del rey
the next morning i immediately realized that hermione had sent me an owl, but i never answered it.
i opened the letter as soon as i saw it, she was talking about coming over today with coffee, which i of course had completely forgot about.
you've got to be shitting me, today all all days.
i jumped from my bed and ran to the bathroom where i dumped like half my bottle of concealer on my neck and chest and blended it vigorously.
i put on a skirt and a big black hoodie to cover all of me and paid extra attention to making sure my exposed neck had enough coverage before Hermione arrived and i let her in.
i couldn't tell if i was acting natural or not throughout the time she was over, to be completely honest i was internally panicking the whole time praying she wouldn't look at my neck, and i knew the concealer was rubbing off on my hoodie collar.
her eyes kept moving from my face to my neck as the hoodie kept rubbing the concealer off, and no matter how much i shifted my posture to distract from my neck she just kept looking. finaly, the question i'd been dreading was asked.
"is your neck okay?" she asked, calmly.
i winced and looked down. "..what do you mean?"
"oh, it just looks like your jacket is really irritating your neck."
i felt slightly relieved that she assumed it was my jacket.
"oh, yeah..this jacket tends to rub my neck and make it a little red."
she nodded and continued what she was talking about before, i'm fine. she thinks it's fro my hoodie, i'm off the hook.
after talking more for a bit, her eyes locked to my neck again.
"i think it messed up your spray tan."
this is so annoying why is she so worried about my neck?
"oh, yeah. it's fine i'll just fix it later." i felt my cheeks burning from embarassment.
"are you okay, roni"?
"what do you mean?"
"i mean are you okay. you're being kinda weird."
"what are you talking about? i'm literally answering your question. it's not my fault you're so worried about my neck." i rambled.
"i feel like somethings going on. what are you not telling me?"
"merlin, can you get out of my business?! since you want to know what happened so bad i got fucking railed yesterday. okay? god!" we both stood from the bed.
she went quiet. fuck, i said too much, didn't i?
"sorry for just being worried about you."
"listen, i'm sorry okay it's just irritating."
"whatever. who was he, anyway?"
shit, what am i supposed to say.
"you have to promise not to tell anyone."
"i promise."
...
"fred."
"fred? like..fred weasley?"
"yes. and don't you dare say anything to a soul after you leave here."
i could see she was struggling not to laugh.
"okay..well, i've got to get to dinner soon and i have homework. so see you later."
"i'm serious, hermione. do not tell a fucking soul at this entire god-forsaken school."
"i won't! bye veronica." she started towards the door.
"bye."
