With brown, messy hair and weird rare yellow eyes. A boy small in height and muscle mass attended highschool. Heś is shorter than most girls and one of the shyest kids in school. This year was going to be different instead of having people ignoring him and making fun of him, they would respect him, and no longer would he be looked down on or so he thought...

The first day of his 2nd year of Lone Pine High School went smoothly. When I walked into the school, no one greeted me or looked my way but I didn't care. I went to all my classes with no problems. As I was taking the twenty-minute walk home I spotted someone blocking my way just ahead who was forced on something else. He looked like a gangster. He was a tall guy who had somewhat long black hair partly covered by a black bandana. His eyes were a dark brown, he didn't look very friendly with a scar crossing over his cheek. He wore a white t-shirt and a black jacket wrapped around his waist and black pants. He looked like a lone wolf who had just spotted his prey and decided to stalk it. I didn't want to get his attention. It could bring trouble so I walking passes with my head down. He noticed me and began to follow. He kept to himself for a couple of minutes but soon got bored.

The guy called out, "Hey shorty." I kept walking. "Hey, kid!" He called out again. I stopped and turned around acting innocent, I didn't want to upset him. Zack stopped in front of me, "Hey do you know where Lone Pine High School is?"

Lone pine was the same high school I went to. Why would he want to know where it was? It was kind of hard to think with a giant grinning down at me. I quietly asked, "Why?"

"I'm a student. It was supposed to be my first day but I've been looking for hours and can't find the place." He said with no shame or hesitation.

I wasn't sure if someone could be looking for the school that long and not finding it but I didn't want to talk any more than I had to. I pointed in the direction of the school and walked away. "Hey Wait." The guy grabbed my backpack. "I just came that way, you don't mind showing me the way, right?"

My heart skipped a beat out of fear. I agreed to show him the way to not upset the beast. He followed behind like a stalker as I led the way back to the school.

"So kid, I'm Zack...What's your name?" Zack tried starting a conversation.

"....Louie...." I hesitated, I didn't want his knowing my name.

"So Louie? What school do you go to?"

"...Lone Pine."

"Wait! What? You're in high school." Zack chuckled in surprise, "I thought you were a middle schooler! You're so short."

I was offended but didn't say anything back until we got to the school, "This is it I should get going."

I started to walk away when Zack called after me, "Hey wait! I thought you went to this school? Why is no one here?"

"School is already over. It ended at 3:00." I called back as I continued walking.

"CRAP!" Zack shouted

I jolted in fear raced up my back as Zack started cursing at himself. The last thing I wanted was to make him angry. I hurried and left before he could do anything. I made it home and I climbed the stairs to my second story four-room apartment as I passed a brown Sibuain cat.

My room was down the hall a couple of doors down from room 225 and 230. The man that lives in 225 never comes out and when he does he's rather drinking or bringing a woman into his room. I sometimes hear screaming coming from the room as I pass by but there not the murderous kind. In-room 230 a new guy moved in a couple of months ago but I've never seen him, he's very mysterious. I bet one of them is part of the recent murders going on in the area. When I went to greet him he wasn't home but after he moved in the murders started to happen.

I went to my room, room 200 on the corner of the hallway, and stepped into my small living room with a couch coffee table and window that saw into the hallway. I dropped off my backpack and shoes. To my left was the counter of my kitchen with a mini-fridge, cabinets, and sink. I went ahead into my room which was right across from the bathroom. I closed the bedroom door as I walked in. My bed was off in the corner below my window and on the other side of the room, I had a table and chair with books and papers organized on top. I lived alone in my apartment. My parents died in a car crash and I was left with their money which is the only reason I have a place to call home. All my other family members had excuses why they couldn't take care of me. It doesn't matter though I should be able to get a job soon to make my own money before I run out of my parent's cash.

I woke up that morning ready for another day of school. But when I got to class I noticed him, Zack, sitting in the seat right in front of my seat, staring out the window. I didn't want to cause a scene and hid my face. I walked over and sat behind him hoping he wouldn't notice. My plan failed miserably, right as I sat down he turned around in his seat. He immediately recognized me as he put his arm on my desk and greeted me.

"Sup Louie! Thanks for yesterday. Can you believe we were put in the same class?" Zack said with enthusiasm.

"Morning." I wasn't sure what to say. I didn't understand why he was so cheerful or why he would even talk to me. Unless he was some kind of bully. What a way to start school being targeted by the guy you helped out.

"Why so glum?" He asked.

I didn't have an answer but there was no need for one. The teacher walked in and told the class to quiet down for him to start the lesson. After class, I tried to leave as fast as I could but Zack once again stopped me.

"Louie. Hey, do you know where room 108 is?"

Why? My brain knew why but why did it have to be the same room I was going to? I didn't want to spend more time with Zack. I was already getting weird looks from others that saw me with him. "S-sorry! I have to do something just go that way." I pointed down the hall in the right direction and sped walked the opposite way. Something about Zack scared me, it probably had something to do with me having to be on my tippy toes just to see over his shoulders. How could one person be so tall? It's not fair, why can't I be that tall?

It was awkward going into the classroom moment before the bell rang. At least Zack didn't see me come in and he sat on the opposite side of the room. Throughout the day it turns out we had a total of 4 of my 7 classes together. The odds of that happening made me mad but I was able to avoid him for most of the day. I only talked to him for a couple of moments and during lunch, I ate away from everyone behind the building at an abandoned lunch table where he wouldn't find me. I found the spot yesterday while trying to get away from the chaos of the first day of school.

A week passed and things continued like this. I tried avoiding Zack as much as possible and continued studying and getting good grades. But day after day Zack tried harder and harder to get me to talk to him. He tried multiple things, making small talk, excuses, and even attempting to walk home with me after school. I didn't understand why. What was he after? My money? I don't know if Zack wanted my money but Drake sure did. Drake looked like he'd been to prison, he had a brown mohawk and a leather jacket. Usually, he'd pick on someone else but for today he was out of me.

His first attack was before school, I had finally slipped away from Zack and I was heading to class when Drake and his lackeys surrounded me.

¨Hey Pipsqueak, do a guy a favor and give us some cash.¨

I was hesitant at first, ¨W-what for?¨

¨Whatever we want. Now give it here.¨ One of Drake's friends said as he grabbed me and reached into my pockets. He pulled out my money and handed it to Drake, ¨Next time don't make things difficult.¨ The bell rang and they wandered off with my money. What a pain.
