Welcome Back;
I was getting a lot of stares as I walked into the Great Hall, interlocking hands with Draco Malfoy of all people. Over the summer I had not gained confidence, I had lost it instead.
My style has changed A LOT over the summer. I used to wear bright clothes as they represented my personality but at this point in my life, all I seem to wear are black.
Draco was dragging me to the Slytherin table but I stopped him half-way, "I'm going to sit on the Hufflepuff table." He opens his mouth to argue but nods his head slowly.
Taking a deep breath, I sit next to Hannah who was a few seats down from Alexander and Wren. "Hey," I smile slightly. She returns the gesture.
I noticed Miranda wasn't here which is odd. I ignored Wren and Alex's gaze as I didn't feel ready to look at them yet, not now.
Snape's welcome back speech left everyone trembling in their seats, everyone but the Slytherin's and I.
The feast shortly began and everyone in the hall was quiet as they ate. There were whispers going around but no one dared to fully speak.
"How are you feeling about all of this?" Hannah whispered in my direction.
I shrugged my shoulders, "The same as everyone else." It's true, I was terrified just as everyone else but I was terrified for the wrong reasons.
"Hopefully it will get better," she shrugged, dropping her head back down to her food.
I let out a long sigh as I gazed at my food, I don't think it will Hannah.
-
Shortly after the feast, everyone was excused to head to their common rooms. Draco offered to walk me but I refused, knowing the Hufflepuff's won't feel comfortable with a Death Eater around.
I tickled the pear and walked through the door. Before I headed to the common room, I opened the kitchen door and walked in.
My eyes immediately spotted Dottie as she washed dishes. "Dottie," I whispered. She jumped slightly but relaxed once she saw it was only me and instead ran up to me with open arms.
"Ms. Y/n, you've returned," she beamed, hugging my neck.
I giggled slightly, "Of course! You didn't think I'd leave you alone, now did you?" She smiled greatly as she shook her head.
"Is Miss hungry?" She asked, tilting her head in confusion.
I shook my head, "No. I'm on my way, I just wanted to say hello." She nodded her head and waved before heading back to her dishes.
I hope once this is all over I can adopt the poor elf, she'd do wonders with me instead of all of this.
I exited the kitchen and walked into the Hufflepuff common room - there were eyes all over me.
Everyone practically feared me now since they saw me hand-in-hand with Draco in the Great Hall. My own friends stood there staring at me with unrecognisable emotions.
I sighed and walked over to them, making their brows rise up. "Have either of you seen Miranda?" I asked my hands on my hip.
Wren let out a scoff, "She's not coming." My mouth opened slightly at his words, "What the hell do you mean she's not coming?"
"I know you're dating a popular fucking death eater but incase you forgot, your best friend is a bloody muggle-born," he huffs, rolling his eyes.
How the hell could I forget? Muggle-borns were practically bound to death at Hogwarts, Miranda's mum is in the order so I assume she's safe with them.
"If you speak to her please let her know-"
"Yeah, okay!" Wren interrupted, walking past me and up to the common room.
I sighed and stared at the floor but realised Alex is still there. I looked up to see him staring at me with big, sorrowful eyes.
"Uh- We'll let you know if we hear anything," he says, giving me a short smile.
I did something out of the ordinary and wrapped my arms around his neck. "Thank you," I whispered in his ear.
I let go and gave him a short smile before walking up the stairs and to my dormitory which I now shared with Hannah and only Hannah.
-
I lay in bed that night, I thought things between Wren, Alex and I were starting to get better since they helped me the night of Dumbledore's assassination.
"Y/n?" Hannah called.
I tightened the hold on my duvet, "Yeah?" I heard a few shuffling and the next thing I knew she was sitting on the edge of my bed.
"Take it easy on Wren, okay? He's been through a lot," she sighed, staring at me.
I rose a brow at her, "What do you mean?" There is no doubt that Wren has indeed been through a lot in the past.
"They kidnapped his mother, no one has seen or heard from her. His father is in a state over this," she whispered.
My eyes widened at this information, a bad feeling sitting in my stomach. Wren is one of the strongest people I know, for him to hide something like this is beyond me. His mother means the entire world to him.
"I-I didn't know," I replied, shock still visible in my voice.
"He hasn't been very open about it but please don't try and get a rise out of him. I know he can be a little pushy," she said.
"Yeah, I- don't worry," I gave her a short smile.
She returned the gesture and began walking back to her bed. "Also, I'm no Miranda but if you need to talk I'm here. I don't care that you're with Malfoy," she said.
"Thank you, Hannah," I replied softly.
I wish I could tell her everything. I wish I could tell anyone everything. But if I do so then not only am I putting myself in danger but I am also putting them in danger.

This story isn't getting as many views as I hoped but oh well- I'm thinking of writing another 'Draco x OC' after this.
If any of you have good suggestions, drop them on this comment :P
