I don't know where I ran to, but I know it was somewhere deep in the forest. Once I got tired of all the angry tears and burnt trees, I sat under the shade of a willow and used the wind to make the leaves dance around me. It was something my mom would do when I was younger to calm me down.

Mom, I missed her so much. she was so kind and loving. When I was sad, she always took me to the bakery to get sweets, and we would sit under our willow tree until I was happy again. I wish I knew what happened to her after she daggered. Did she get to watch over me for a while? Or did the person who was chasing us find and kill her before she could say goodbye? Whatever happened, I hope she's at peace.

My peace, however, was short-lived as I heard a snap behind me. Sighing heavily, I turned around to see Hayley hesitantly walking my way. Why would they send her of all people?

"Leave me alone Hayley." I mumbled as I leaned back on the tree.

"You know I can't do that. Everyone is worried about you and Elijah is really sorry about yelling at you." She explained as she sat next to me. I silently glared at her, but let her sit seeing as I didn't have enough energy to care.

"Obviously not sorry enough. He's not even here to apologize." Hayley sighed at my comment as she ran a hand through her hair and thought of what she could say next.

"Listen,Rose, I may just be starting my journey of being a mother, but let me tell you. The moment I laid eyes on Hope, I never wanted a single hair on her head to be out of place. I wanted to tear anyone who came near her apart. But, I almost wasn't able to protect her. When I died, I died fearing that she may never see another day because of some witch's spell. And when I got another chance to save her; there was no way anyone could stop me. That's what Elijah is going through right now. He fell in love with you the moment he found you, without even questioning it. Now, he wants to protect you at all costs. He's lucky to have a strong, confident, powerful daughter like you, and he knows that. That's why he yelled at you. Not out of anger...but out of fear. Out of fear of losing you before he could ever get to know you."

After Hayley's speech, things made a little. bit more sense. This situation is rare. It's fragile. My dad isn't supposed to have a miracle child but he does. Now, he has to protect me and be a father...and I'm a handful. I guess I can understand why me always putting myself in harm's way is a bit infuriating. Even if my intentions were good, it was dangerous.

"Thanks, Hayley...I never really thought about it like that. I just thought he didn't want my help." I admitted as we stood up

"No problem, I know that we got off on the wrong foot, but I don't want it to stay that way. You're my daughter's only cousin. " She said with a smile and I returned it as I gave her a quick hug.

As we made our way back to the house, Hayley and I got to know a bit more about each other. Upon our arrival, we saw Klaus and Rebekah standing outside as they finished up the bonfire. When they saw us, must to my surprise, they quickly hugged me.

"If you ever do something that stupid I may have to dagger you, little flower." Uncle Klaus said in a bit of a joking mood although we all knew he was serious.

The four of us laughed and soon the front door of the house opened. Looking up I saw dad standing there with Hope in his eyes. He continued to stare me down as he walked down the steps and handed Hope to Hayley.

Sighing softly, looking at him as he was now standing directly in front of us. Neither of us spoke or moved as we just stood there. Dad was the first one to move. Much to my surprise, he hugged me tightly. I let a breath out that I didn't know I was holding in and hugging him back. It wasn't until we pulled away and he wiped a tear off my cheek that I noticed I was crying. After sniffling like a toddler, I wiped my face and hugged dad once again.

"Alright, alright enough with the sentiments. I do believe we have a fire to light." Uncle Klaus's sarcastic voice rang.

Both my dad and I rolled our eyes and walked back to the group. Rebekah smiled reminiscing on the past as Klaus lit the fire. We then all took a photo of an old polaroid and gathered around to watch it form. Uncle Klaus of course ruined the moment by pointing out that we have to burn the photo. Sorrowfully, we watched the photo burn in the fire. And I couldn't help but wonder.

If it would always be this way...

Hey guys! Here's a cute little chapter! Hayley and Jaqueline-Rose had a heart-to-heart and she and Elijah had a cute father-daughter moment. I will try to update more often, but Wattpad keeps giving me problems whenever I try to. Thank you all for reading! Don't forget to check my conversations tag for book updates! ~KK
