A few days after the incident with the hooded Voldemort Harry's scar was still acting up, burning as though in warning. His sister seemed to know whenever it twitched even when he didn't react.
Their exams have started and the burning and twitching scar wasn't helping Harry concentrate, they were heading back after their Charms exams when it acted up again but Harry tried ignoring it getting a reproachful look from Ally as he did so.
"I've always heard Hogwarts' end of the year exams were frightful," Hermione said breaking the silence, "But I found that rather enjoyable."
"Speak for yourself!" Ron snapped.
"All right there, Harry?" Ally asked seeing him rub the scar with the palm of his hand.
"My scar," he reply still massaging it, "It keeps burning." he answered knowing that Ally would full well know if he tried lying about it.
"It's happened before," said Hermione.
"Not like this," Harry snapped angrily at her.
"Perhaps you should see the nurse," Ron suggested.
"I think it's a warning," Harry answered ignoring Ron's silly suggestion, "It means dangers coming." he pressed the palm of his hand down harder as another spasm of pain shoots up the scar.
Harry noticed Hagrid sitting outside his hut and suddenly it dawned on him, "Oh... Of course!" and he ran towards Hagrid.
"What is it?" Hermione called out as she ran up to Harry.
"Don't you think it's a bit odd what Hagrid wants more than anything is a dragon, and a stranger shows up and just happens to have one?" Harry said the puzzle pieces clicking into place.
They approached the hut and Hagrid who was playing a magical tune on a wooden flute, "I mean, how many people wander around with dragon eggs in their pocket? Why didn't I see it before?" he fumed angry at himself.
Harry stepped up at Hagrid who was still playing the flute, "Hagrid, who gave you the egg?" he asked and Hagrid stopped playing in mid tune, "What did he look like?" Harry demanded not even giving Hagrid a chance to reply.
Hagrid frowned and answered, "I don't know, never saw his face. He kept is hood up."
"The stranger, though, you and he must have talked?" Hermione asked bewildered by the idea that Hagrid could be so irresponsibly.
"Well, he wanted to know what sort of creatures I looked after," said Hagrid frowning slightly at the four Gryffindors', "I told him, I said, 'after Fluffy, a dragon's gonna be fine.'"
"Hagrid?" Ally asked frowning at him, "Did... did he seem interested in Fluffy?"
"Well, of course he was interested in Fluffy!" Hagrid said puffing his chest out proudly, "How often do you come across a three-headed-dog, even if yer in the trade? But I told him, I said, 'The trick with any beast is to know how to calm him. Take Fluffy for example, just play him a bit o' music and he falls straight to sleep...'" his face fell when he realized what he had just told them.
The four friends gaped at him for a moment too stunned to say anything, "I shouldn't have told yeh that, I shouldn't have..." but before he could repeat it they started running back towards the castle, "Where are yeh goin'? Wait!" he called after them but they were half-way up to school.
