Thalia

"Thalia Blackstone, please come to the office." Well shit. What had I done now? It was the first week of school. I couldn't have done anything yet... right? I was actually pretty tight with the staff, so it probably wasn't that... I shrugged and strode through the halls, ignoring the looks others were giving me. It's not every day the top student in the school gets called to the office.

I had adapted to my quirk with relative ease thanks to my parents' training. I was already proficient with most weapons, so the scythe wasn't a problem. The enhanced senses and strength had taken some getting used to, but I was fine now. I hadn't wanted to join school, but the government had insisted. I had argued that I was doing fine by myself. I had been in charge of my education since I was about seven, which was when my parents had decided that I should have some control over my education as well as learning some responsibility. I was actually way ahead of the others in my grade.

Enough of that, I told myself as I pushed the office doors open. Time to see what this is about.

"Thalia. Hey," the secretary greeted me. "Ms. Smith is waiting for you in her office." I gave her a nod and pushed the principal's door open. "Hello Thalia!" said Ms. Smith. She was sitting at her desk. "Have a seat." She gestured to the chair in front of her. I did so. "Why am I here?" I asked. "Straight to the point then." I waited. "Fine. Well, you know UA?" "The top hero school in the world? Yeah. Everybody does." She smiled. "Good. Well, I was thinking about sending you there."

That caught me off guard. "What?" "There's nothing else for you to learn here. In fact, I don't think that we have taught you anything in the time you've been with us." Well, it was true. "Alright," I said. Her eyebrows shot up. "That easily?" "Yeah," I said. "If I'm gonna be a hero, I'm going to do it right. If that means going to a school full of pompous assholes, then so be it." She chuckled, which reminded me why I liked her better than the other official assholes. "Just don't say that to them." She waved at the door. "You're free to go."

I froze as I twisted the doorknob. Ms. Smith noticed this. "What's the problem?" "Well... hasn't the school year already started?" She gave me an evil smirk. "I've organized something." I smirked back. "You might have to take an exam. They didn't tell me, but with your training..." She let me imagine the possibilities. As one of the only people who knew who my parents were, she knew what the result was likely going to be. Catching my grin, she laughs under her breath. "Show them what America's made of." "Oh, I will." As I was leaving the room she called out "oh, by the way, you leave tomorrow." "WHAT?" She laughed. "You're excused from school. Get packing!" I flipped her off, which only made her laugh harder.
