PURPLE BLOSSOMS

prologue

Purple is my favourite colour..not because i'm royal or because i love violet hues...purple is my favourite colour because as the puple blossoms bloomed so did the young love in my heart....I remember lying down on the puple flowers of the jacaranda tree that formed a lush carpeting on the ground, daydreamking about the warrior who had captured my heart.

When I looked into his eyes time seemingly stood still and I lost myself in the foggy darkness of his soul-yes I did see into his soul. When I looked into his eyes I read all the secrets emblazoned onto his heart by burning embers from an African fire.

He was fearless, a true African warrior. Most people used to say that he had ripped apart a lions jaw with his bare hands- some went so far as to say his pets were the feared black mambas and the crocodiles of the limpopo river. When I heard these stories I just laughed to myself. Yes my man was indeed a warrior who slayed many a beast with his hands but he was no owner of vile creatures...he was a lover and tamer of docile and beautiful creatures.

why then didn't he attempt to put an end to these rumours?It was all just a matter of pride and integrity.He had to maintain his social standing, A real man was not applauded for his gentlesness but for his bravery- the mark of a real man was his brute ruthlessness and courage when faced with an oppenent who equaled or surpassed his humanly power.

Rather than being tarnishing or unfavourable, these rumours were on the contrary a great favour to his reputation. In the eyes of the masses he was held with such great esteem that very soon his name reached the ears of the king. Impressed by the stories told of this great warrior the king was eager to prove them correct with his very own eyes....
