I flinched, clenching my fists tightly. The incessant bell rang to signal another customer had entered the coffee shop.

"Fuck you, too" I whispered, adjusting the sunglasses that sat on the bridge of my nose. An unrelenting pain throbbed behind my eyes, making every sound or light feel like a star had just imploded. Skye scoffed, pushing a large mug of steaming coffee into my hands.

"Drink the coffee, eat a danish and suck it up. If you can't handle the headache..."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thanks for the tip mom" I huffed, watching the barista cheerfully greet her new customer. A heart-stopping smile spread across her cheeks, emphasizing a pair of dimples.

Bright honey-brown eyes matched her cap and apron, which accentuated the curves of her hips.

"Cute" Skye laughed, hiding a devilish grin behind her coffee mug. I frowned and knawed at the

skin of my lip.

"Huh? What do you mean?" I snapped, getting increasingly irritated. Hangovers and cryptic

conversations never bode well for me.

"Well," Skye started, clearing her throat playfully. She pursed her lips and straightened her back.

"Last night, you got blackout drunk-"

"Oh, shit" I gasped, slapping a hand over my mouth. "Did I kiss another one?"

"Mhmm" She snorted, attracting the attention of some peaceful morning people. Although it wasn't much of a surprise, I was still humiliated.

"Was it hot, at least?" I asked tilting my head hopefully. She nodded and grinned.

"Very," She simply shut her eyes, shoulders shaking from laughter. "I- I was trying to have sex in the bathroom with a really hot guy, Dan. Temporarily, I forget your drunken tendencies. When I remembered, I politely excused myself and ran back to the bar... where you had your tongue

down the bartender's throat."

As Skye recalled the evening, vague memories were startlingly returned, and the idea of the bartender didn't seem so far away. I sighed and leaned back in my chair.

"Wait," I frowned, staring at the customer that had recently walked in. Though I could only see his backside, and the slight tint of my sunglasses made it challenging to see, the man seemed... familiar. "Who is that? I asked, hoping the grueling process of recollecting a name would be aided.

"No way" Skye whispered in awe, beaming as she waved the man down. "Hey, Ace!"

"Who's Ace?" I tried, witnessing the plethora of events that began to unfold. The man turned, scanning the room aimlessly for the disconnected voice. As Skye raised her hand again, a splash of recognition transformed his features, and he grinned.

"Morning sunshine" Ace greeted, stepping towards our table.

"I-erm," I looked to Skye for help, but none was given. "Sorry, do I know you?"

Ace took a sip of coffee, smacking his lips together. With a quick spin of a chair, he had joined our table, something I wasn't too fond of.
