<<<Anna's POV>>>
Wednesday, 3rd February
After Elsa came to talk to me last night, I just couldn't sleep. She's completely okay with just being married off to a stranger! We had a shouting match before because my on and off boyfriend Hans planned on proposing to me and we were in back in the relationship at the time! She's always being so selfless and protecting me—the whole family. I know about the family business and Papa never wanted us to get involved because we're his little Princesses, his words not ours.
I don't remember much of Grandfather but I was told on several occasions that he wasn't a kind man to anybody. He was heartless and from what was discussed last night, I see what everybody means now.
I gently wriggle out of Elsa's arms creeping out of my bedroom hoping to not disturb her. As soon as I reach the bottom of the stairs, I can smell Mama's delicious cooking. I walk into the kitchen to see Mama looking a little happier than she has been the last few months. How could I go off on them like that last night? What was I thinking?
"Good morning, Anna! I've made some chocolate filled croissants." Mama says with a tired smile.
I rush forward to hug her and I'm instantly crying into her shoulder. She hushes me cradling me in her arms like a baby.
"I'm so sorry. I was just upset, she's already been through so much and I just want to protect her like she protects me." I sob sadly.
Elsa has always protected me. When I was just four years old; somebody attacked our second home we were staying in then Elsa hid me away in the closet claiming that Mama, Papa and I had left our main home to meet with our Grandfather. They took my sister away without checking the rest of the house, she protected me from harm and I want to do the same for her so badly.
"I know, baby. I'm not mad or upset with you, I know you're just trying to protect her. She's always protecting everybody else and we've tried for so long to get her out of that ridiculous marriage contract but we can't." Mama sighs sadly squeezing me tighter.
Mama's small frame is rattling in my arms. I can tell she's holding back her tears. How could I yell at them like that?
"Good morning, girls." Papa's tired voice says from the entrance of the kitchen.
I rush over to his hugging him apologising sincerely for my behaviour which he accepts wholeheartedly. Papa and I help Mama bring the plates out to the dining room taking our seats. Over Papa's shoulder, I see Elsa dusting off her clothes with her usual soft smile.
"Good morning, everyone." Elsa says taking her seat at the table.
Mama and Papa share that pained look again watching Elsa who is completely unbothered. I wish I had my sister's courage, I'd have been kicking and screaming if that were me. Well, I was and they were telling that to Elsa!
"We can talk more about the marriage after breakfast. I just want to join our meal as a family, okay?" Elsa says with a smile.
She has to be the strongest and bravest woman I know. Maybe I should look more into this guy that she's marrying, I need to know that my sister won't be harmed and that she's in good hands.
We eat our breakfast together in silence in an almost ignorant bliss of the situation. Mama's eyes are squeezed closed tightly like she's in pain.
"Mama, are you alright?" I ask worriedly.
A single stream of blood runs from her left nostril. Papa hands her a tissue holding her hand stroking her thumb with adoration and concern in his eyes.
