After dinner we hanged out for a bit, the three of us together. Then it was time to go to bed and Edward went into his room while John and I went into our room.
I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed, putting on moisturizer when John came in. He wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on my shoulder after planting a kiss on my cheek. His hair was slightly ruffled up and I stared at his reflection in the mirror.
I put away the tube of moisturizer and rested my hands on top of John’s which were across my stomach. I leaned into him and sighed contently. This moment was so warm and peaceful that I wished it would last forever.
John turned his head slightly to kiss my neck before withdrawing one of his hands. He reached behind his back and produced a dark blue box from his back pocket.
He showed it to me and gestured for me to open it through the reflection of the mirror.
I took the box and lifted the lid slowly, confused. I wondered what it was.
Under the lid lied a glistering necklace with a music note-shaped pendant. It was the necklace which I had told John about when we walked past a jewelry shop and as far as I knew it was really expensive. My jaw dropped as I was completely taken by surprise. It was the last thing I was expecting!
“Wha – what?” I stuttered; I could not form a proper sentence as I was so shocked. It was just a tiny remark from me which made John buy this. I simply said this necklace was very beautiful and he bought it for me!
“I love you,” John smiled at my expression and kissed my temple.
“I – John – I—” I was trying to say something but failed miserably. I was staring at the necklace and I could feel my eyes getting wet. John was so sweet to me.
“Do you like it?” John asked softly.
“I – like? I love it! Thank you so much,” my ability of talking came back eventually and I exclaimed, and I touched the diamond pendant, “I’ve never thought that you’d actually buy this! It’s so expensive and I just said that it’s pretty once – I didn’t expect you to remember my words!”
“Anything for you, love,” John chuckled.
I put down the box next to the sink and turned around to face John. He kept his arms wrapped around my waist and I rested my palms gently against his chest, feeling his heartbeat, “I love you John. I always will,” I was getting so emotional at that moment as so much had happened today and a tear rolled down from the corner of my eye. I loved this boy to death.
He caught my tear with his thumb and kissed me softly on the lips, “I love you too,” he said, “Let me help you put on the necklace.”
I nodded and turned around. I handed him the necklace and he secured it around my neck. I stared at my reflection and focused on the necklace; it looked so beautiful glistering under the light. John stared at me intensely while I was doing so.
I turned to face John again and he was clearly happy that I loved his present.
“So what do I get in return?” John raised an eyebrow questioningly.
“Anything you want,” I giggled.
“Okay…” a sly smile came onto his face, “I want you.” He titled his head and pouted slightly, signaling me to kiss him.
I laughed, and kissed him eagerly. Once my lips touched his, he responded by capturing my lips in his. He kissed me possessively and I melted into his embrace.
John lifted me up and sat me on the counter. I hooked my arms around his neck and wrapped my legs around his waist, our lips not breaking contact.
We had a hot make out session and finally John heaved me up and brought me into the bedroom. He bit my lower lip and threw me onto the bed. I bounced a little on my back and he jumped on me, making me giggle.
He grazed his teeth along my bottom lip and fumbled with my top. He took it off and went back to kissing me, our hands exploring every inch of each other’s body.
And so tonight I got the necklace I desired and John got to enjoy watching my reaction of receiving it, and also he got me all to himself and I got to drown myself in his love.

I wore my necklace every single day and I never took it off. I loved it so much and it symbolized John’s love.
The twins did not need to go out to meet people from work in the coming weeks so I spent almost every moment with John and most of the time Edward was with us too.
Talking about Edward, things seemed to have returned to normal. We had not got flirty around each other anymore, just like what we had agreed on before. We pretended that any of those had not happened. And John was always around so even if we did not hide it, we would not be able to do anything about it.

Sunlight shone onto the bed and woke me up. I rubbed my eyes sleepily and I felt the bed beside me. Empty. It must be late morning now so John had already gone downstairs.
I brushed my teeth and washed my face before walking out of the room. I bumped into Edward as I walked past his room – he was just walking out.
“Sorry,” I said as I had knocked papers out of his hands and they were scattered beneath our feet. I bent down and helped him with picking up them.
“It’s okay,” he smiled and we collected the paper into a stack again. As we were doing so, Edward’s hand ended up on top of mine as we reached for the same piece of paper.
Our bodies froze at the contact – it had sent sparks flying.
I snapped my head up to look at Edward and he happened to be staring at me too. Our gaze held each other’s and Edward closed his hand around mine.
“I—” I wanted to say something but Edward stopped me.
“(Yn), I – can you come into my room for a moment? I – well, I think – I – anyway, yeah,” he said, his thoughts obviously jumbled together now. He then released my hand.
I nodded confusedly yet nervously, but followed him into his room anyway after picking up all the papers.
He closed the door behind him and motioned for me to sit on his bed. I sat at the end of his bed and he went to get something from his closet. He dug out a tiny box from the bottom of the drawer.
He walked towards me and sat down next to me. He opened the box and revealed a pretty silver bracelet with a music note charm on it, but the note was different from the one on the necklace around my neck.
I was staring at the bracelet when Edward spoke, “I actually bought this a long time ago, like when we first met… I wanted to give it to you, as I thought the music note can represent me – you know, with John and I both working in the music industry and we’re really into making music and just basically music – but I didn’t get the chance to give it to you…
I thought I’d never give it to you after you have got together with John, but the other day I learnt about the necklace which John gave you as he told me why he bought it – you were the one that laid eyes on it, right? And your choice reminded me of this bracelet. I really want to give it to you, but I guess I can only give it to you now as a friend… Maybe you can call it a friendship bracelet…”
I looked up at Edward and he had his eyes on me, observing my reaction. I had my mouth hanging open as I honestly did not know how to respond.
Seeing that I could not respond, Edward simply took out the bracelet and attached it around my wrist.
“There,” he smiled at me, but I could see through his smile – he was hurting.
My heart ached for a moment and I finally came back to reality, “Thank you, Edward,” I said whole-heartedly, hugging Edward, “You’re the best friend anyone could have ever had… And you know, I love you.”
“As a friend,” he added for me, “Right?”
I could not see his expression, but I knew if I saw it my heart would break. As much as I did not want to say it, I had to, “Yes…”
“I love you too,” he whispered.
