Emiko's face was physically exhausted. Kiyoko was right, all the boys (with the exception of one) have been so kind to her that she couldn't help but smile at every little thing. Being in the gym made her spirits lift up and helped her forget about her embarrassing rejection.
After meeting everyone, Emiko helped Kiyoko with helping the boys practice. She mostly had to run around and catch rolled away volleyballs but she didn't mind.
It was Tsukishima's turn to practice what a Kiyoko called spiking. Emiko immediately frowned as she stood by the side, ready to run after the ball.
"What is wrong with you?" Tsukishima said to himself when he met Emiko's glaring eyes. He, of course, glared back.
"Alright, here it goes," said Kiyoko as she tossed up the ball.
Tsukishima smirked as he ran and spiked the ball as hard as he could in order to... impress Emiko.
For some odd reason.
But Tsukishima miss calculated the amount of force he hit the ball with, it was enough force to almost match the ace of Karasuno. The team gasped as the ball rebounded off the ground and quickly flew to the misfortunate person who happened to be on the side.
"Hey dumbass! watch out!" Tsukishima yelled out as he watched the ball speed towards the confused female as well as the rest of the team.
"Ack!" Emiko yelled as the ball rushed towards her, she tightly closed her eyes and braced herself for the impact, luckily Hinata jumped in the way. Unluckily, the ball ended up smacking him in the face.
"Hinata! Are you alright?!" Emiko asked worryingly as she held his face in her hands making sure nothing was broken. Hinata blushed madly as Emiko then pulled him into a tight hug, thanking him for "saving her life". She angrily turned her head towards Tsukishima, "You tried to murder me," she said with piercing eyes.
"That's a little over dramatic don't you-" Tsukishima immediately stopped talking as he felt the captain's eyes on him.
Daichi walked towards the tall blonde while the coaches and Kiyoko checked on Hinata and Tanaka and Nishinoya gawked at Hinata's luck to be held by a princess.
Yeah right. Princess they say.
"Tsukishima," Daichi started, "Is something on your mind right now? Do you need to cool down?" Daichi asked.
"What? Of course not," Tsukki responded. Daichi frowned, he knew that something was indeed going on with him and Emiko. Only a fool wouldn't notice the threatening daggers they threw at each other.
Why would I need to cool down? If anything this is the shortcakes fault. If she hadn't been glaring at me I wouldn't have gotten distracted.
Sugawara walked towards both of them, "Is there something going on between you and Emiko?" He asked frowning with slight concern.
"No, I just hit the ball at an awkward angle. It's not that big of a deal," he shrugged. Suga and Daichi both looked over and the injured Hinata who was gladly taking in Emiko's praises. Her praises were cut short as Kiyoko asked her to grab a med kit from the storage room. Emiko quickly accepted and ran towards the storage room.
The two upperclassmen gave each other a look. Tsukishima watched in confusion as they both nodded at each other.
"Why don't you go grab the mop from the storage room? The walk will cool you off a bit and I think Hinata got a nose bleed," Sugawara asked. "I didn't see any blood," Tsukishima said with a raised eyebrow. "No, I'm pretty sure there was some bleeding," Daichi said with a bit more forced tone. Deciding not to anger the upperclassmen, Tsukishima agreed and began walking towards the storage room.
