"Winter came early this year." My grandmother said, looking at the freshly fallen snow outside. I cracked a smile and slipped on my shoes and a jacket. "I'm going to play outside!" I yell running out the door. The snow crunches beneath my feet as I walk outside. I smile again as a snowflake landed on my nose and melted. I walked out onto the street where more kids were playing with the snow. A group was throwing snowballs at each other, some were building a snowman. "Hey Chelsea!", my little cousin calls from her yard. I ducked a snowball and waved back and kept going. I eventually met the outline of the forest. Without thinking I walk in.
I reach the top of a hill, out of breath, it made swirls of frost, as it evaporates into the air. I look at the scene before me and smile. The two trees have snow covering their branches, and a small stream running nearby has ice covering the edges, already starting to freeze over. I walked over to the two trees and sat beneath them.
The branches between them intertwined in the middle, providing nice shade int the summer and a nice hallow in the winter. I stretch my legs out in front of me and lay against one of the trunks. The snow is still falling softly and i find myself closing my eyes. "A quick nap couldn't hurt.", I muttered before drifting off
* * * *
I shot my eyes open to a cold burning sensation whipping across my face. The sky has gotten way darker and the snow was coming fast and hard. try to shield my eyes as best as i could but with no avail. I start to shiver uncontrollably and pulled my hood over my head. I have to get out of here before it could get any worse. Which way is home? Fear hits me as i realize i cant see 10 feet in front of me. One way to find out. I started walking.
Okay, I know this isn't the way back. I rub my forehead as i hit another branch. My cheeks are stinging from the wind. I continue further in the direction I'm heading, my foot catches a hidden tree root under the snow and i trip forwards, landing hard in the snow. I wipe my face clear of snow, only to have it replaced with more being whipped up from the wind that seems to be getting stronger as i continue walking. I stumble through the knee deep snow, my teethe chattering. My knees collapse from beneath me, exhausted from wading through the snow and stiff from the cold. I bring my knees up to my chest to keep what little warmth i have left. "S-so this is h-how I'll d-die.", I speak out loud. " Well if you don't want to die from a blizzard, why would you be out here?" A voice comes from above me and i look up. I see an outline of a boy sitting in the tree above me. "I-it was only s-snowing lightly w-when I left." I stutter. He jumps down from his perch landing in front of me. "Y-you can see me?" He asks. "W-why sh-shouldn't I be able to?" I ask. He makes a motion with his arm and sits down beside me. The blizzard seems to almost stop. I blink rapidly. What the hell?
Thw and fog clears as the wind dies down and I'm able to see the boy properly. He has pure white hair, piercing blue eyes and he's wearing a blue hoodie with frost here and there and brown pants that cut off towards the bottom with...no shoes? "Aren't you cold?" I ask. "I'm used to it." He says. "So you got a name?", "Chelsea, Chelsea Brooks." I say. "Who are you?"
"My name is Jack Frost." He replies making a snowball. Wait, hold up. Jack frost? As in the ones my grandmother used to tell stories about when i was a kid? Can't be. "Why are you out here Chelsea?" he asks throwing the snowball. " I went for a walk, fell asleep under a tree and when i woke up I was in a blizzard." I explained. "Well that was stupid." he snorts. "You fell asleep while it was snowing then started walking through a blizzard. Really?"
"I thought i could make it home!" I defend myself. "Why are you out here?" I ask. "Its my job" He shrugs. "Jack Frost. Your job? Are you just some weirdo who thinks he's the being of winter and is going to end up getting himself killed my hypothermia?" I ask. "You want me to start that blizzard again?" He asks raising an eyebrow. "Go for it. Its impossible to-" I got cut off by a gust of wind that just about knocks me over as snow whips my face again. "Okay! Okay! Point taken!" I yell over the wind and it dies down. "Believe me now?" He laughs. "I'll believe you as long as you don't do that again." He smiles. "Fine." "Thanks.
"Can i see your arm?" He asks. "Uhh.." He grabs my left arm and pulls up the sleeve revealing a mark of a snowflake on my wrist. "Do you know how you got this?" He asks, examining the mark. "No, I've had it ever since." He puts his hand over the mark and it starts glowing a bright blue. "Chelsea, I'm your guardian." He says looking straight into my eyes. "My what?" I said looking confused. "Your guardian, we both have this mark." he says lifting up his sleeve showing the same mark. "That's how you see me." He says smiling. "Oh, okay then, i need to get home.","Want me to walk you?" "sure" "So how old are you?" He asks twirling his staff. "I'm 17" I say dodging a tree. "You don't look 17." He says. "Well i am." "Good to know." He says.
"Thanks for walking me back." I say once we got to the garden gate. "No problem. I'll make sure not to cause too many blizzards." He winks at me. I roll my eyes. "Thanks for not letting me die out there." I say turning around and walking through the gate. "No problem. I'm not cold and heartless." he says. "I know you're not. Do you want to come in?" I say turning around, but trail off as i see wisps of snow drift upwards in a spiral. Jack is no where to be seen. "Well goodbye to you too." I mutter before walking inside.
tell me what you think? :DD
