"Hi Kadence. I'm officer Mathews. How are you feeling?"

The atmosphere was dense, almost as if a thick fog was smothering everyone until they couldn't breathe. The young girl continued to look down at her feet, biting her lip to try and stifle her whimpers of impending cries.

"Look, I know you must be scared. If I was in your position, I would be too. Believe me. But I'm proud of you for being so brave and coming in here to talk to me."

He smiled, trying to give the small girl some comfort and reassurance. He noticed the girls eyes shift from the floor to a glowing red dot in the corner of the room.

"Oh, you're probably wondering what that is. It's a camera. The red dot is just showing that it's on." She paused, nodding her head and shifting herself to where she was sitting more upright, looking over at the man.

"So...does that mean anyone can see this?"
Her voice quiet, only loud enough to be heard by the man on the other side of the table.

"Only the people who have access to it. No bad people."
He said, reassuring her she would be okay. The only sound that could be heard was the clicking of her shoes on the tile floor as she swung her feet forwards and backwards and the ticking clock. It was nearly four in the afternoon. The officer cleared his throat, then looked at her once again.

"Alright Kadence. Whenever you're ready. I'm all ears."

The bustling noise of traffic that once hit the busy streets was now quiet, or at least toned down. Very few people were outside, regardless of the warmth that the sun was embracing the once cold ground. The atmosphere of the whole town was quiet. But there were still some signs of life wandering around.

"Are you really sure you want to go through with this Kadence? You don't know how they're going to react. Especially after all these years. Who knows if they will even remember you."

The female stopped and looked over at her partner with a cold glare, not intentionally trying to seem off putting, but just to show her determination of the situation.

"They'll know. We've been in contact. Trust me... they'll know."

The other nodded towards her, watching her as she parked the vehicle outside a restaurant, a very familiar one at that. She quickly got out of the car, getting her gun and putting it in her side holster along with her cellphone and a small notepad and pen in case notes are needed to be taken. The door of the vehicle closed, and there followed a long pause of silence and almost dreadful atmosphere. Almost tugging at the girls soul, pleading her to go in, but also to turn away and never come back. A long sigh escaped her lips as she slowly but surely made her way to the door of the building, looking inside before narrowing her eyes on a a couple towards the front of the establishment. She looked over at her partner and nodded as they made their way inside the building to go and greet the couple. Before they could make their way over however, they were stopped when a man, about five foot seven or eight approached them. He seemed to be wearing a uniform. He must have been one of the many security guards based on his badge on his right shoulder.

"Welcome guys. How can I be of service to you both? I'm Jeremy, the security guard here."

Kadence looked the male up and down with an expressionless look, a look that could almost kill before she held out her own badge.

"Detective Matthews, this is my partner detective Hayes. We're here on personal work business, of course unless you have any issues, we can take it elsewhere."

'𝑶𝒉 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒕' Were the security guards first thoughts before he collected himself and cleared his throat.

"Oh yes, there's no problems. Please feel free. If you need anything at all, feel free to ask and I will assist you in any way I can."
