You got off the train, there weren't many people. After all the town you were going to was very small and there were few reasons a person would travel such a distance to such an unremarkable place. If you remember correctly you were going there to stay with your Aunt Grace for the year, as such you would be attending the school at this small town. One thing that struck you as odd was that you couldn't recall why you were staying with your aunt for such a long amount of time, not only could you not remember the past few days but no one will give you a straight answer about anything regarding the visit or your lost time. It's almost as if you were in a coma and woke up on the train. You looked at the directions you were given:
"Go left of the gas station and keep walking down that street, look for a red house with mushroom lawn decorations."
You laughed at how funny the house would probably look after you got there, but your self indulgent giggle was interrupted by a scruffy looking man with messy, brown hair and dark eyes.
"It's a small town... but with such a small town comes a good bit of freedom too," he said without looking at you, but still clearly addressing you, "But when you have freedom, the way you use it can end up being self destructive."
He pulled out a sheet of paper from his coat that looked like a contract or something with no signature and continued, not seeming to care if you were listening, "People have to understand, sometimes it can only be your own fault, you have to take responsibility for the things you do, even when they only affect you and others negatively," this guy was super sketchy but there were a few people watching nearby so it couldn't have hurt to let him finish, "You understand what I'm saying right? That you choose this fate upon your own free will?"
Ok, no this guy just seems plain off his rocker but you assume a response would get him out your hair so you humored him and said, "Well, I am 16 now. I guess I'm old enough that I can't blame things on being a kid, right? So yeah, I guess so." You actually felt sort of mature saying that, albeit a little cheesy.
You notice the contract he was holding has a signature on it now, were your eyes playing tricks on you early? Suddenly pain shot through your head to the point that you knelt down and held your pulsing cranium in both hands, the stranger walked away while ignoring your pain, that was a strange experience to say the least. You recovered from your spell of agony and recalled your directions once more, time to get to your aunt's house, it's getting late. Now that you looked from the train station, which was at a higher elevation then the whole town, you could actually already see your aunt's house from here and if you cut through a small wheat field you could actually get there much faster so you went with that plan. As you walked through the field it didn't seem to end, and the wheat was too tall to see above it. You started walking faster, eventually you came to a small clearing in the field. Now that you looked up the sky was a dark crimson, not like a sunset red, more like a "the world is ending as we know it" type of red. You started running through the clearing to other side to hurry home but when you reached the other end you ran in the wheat like it was a solid wall. You pulled out the knife you were given as a child and swung it at the obstruction, it simply clanged against the plants as if they were metal rods. You heard footsteps like hooves behind you and almost vomited at what you saw when you turned to them. It was a bipedal goat man with a female chest and a fire floating above its head.
It stepped closer towards you and said, "It's dangerous, you know," his raspy voice said, "There's been reports of people seeing things, 'demons' they call them."
You were so shocked by what you were seeing you couldn't muster any words so you simply pointed your knife at the thing talking to you.
It laughed, "Oooh, you have some bite to you, all the better for when I kill you and consume your soul."
