                                                            (Y/n's POV)

I was walking out some back doors once school was over, hoping to escape a different way than the crowds and get a breather. Everything moved so fast here.

And that was when I heard it.

The shouting, the shoes squeaking on gym floors, the thump of a ball and shouts of encouragement. I could almost feel the energy and adrenaline. I couldn't help but turn subconsciously towards it, walking towards the open doors of a gym. I was always drawn towards sports.

I peeked through the doors, astonished at the sight inside the gym. There was a practice game going on between the boys on the volleyball team. I recognized most of the boys, including Suga and Noya and Tsukishima. And they were incredible.

I watched as the team with the jerseys on (Sunshine kid and sunshine kid's moody friend, Tanaka, Noya, and a couple of guys I don't know) received the ball from the opposite team, who had Daichi and Suga, man bun, Tsukishima and his friend, and another guy I don't know. Noya received man-bun's spike, sending the ball in moody guy's direction. He set the ball all the way across the court where Tsukishima wasn't blocking, and Hinata sprinted as fast as he could across the court and jumped impossibly high into the air, spiking it down onto the other side hard. When he landed he jumped around excitedly, only for some girl to softly say it was out. Then he and Kageyama groaned, getting frustrated. But I stayed frozen. What had just happened? There was no way the little guy could move so fast... And his friend's set had seemed way accurate. Were they some kind of volleyball gods or something?

Noya ran to the sidelines to get a drink of water, and I noticed that they were taking a break from their practice game. Everyone was grabbing water or towels to wipe sweat away. They couldn't have been at it very long, because school hadn't ended too long ago, but if I played like them I would be thirsty as well.

When Noya tilted his head back to take a drink it brought his eyes up and he saw me peeking through the door. "Y/n!" He said, taking his water bottle away from his mouth and running towards me excitedly. "Hey!"
"Hey, Noya," I answered. "Your receive was really awesome! Especially since the tall guy spiked it so hard."

He blushed a little bit. "Ah thanks, it was really nothing."

I grinned, playfully nudging his arm. "Well it was still really cool." He beamed.

"Oh hey, I had an idea. And Daichi and Suga said it was ok for me to ask so..."

"What is it?" I asked, intrigued.

"Oh, well our manager is a third year so this is her last year and she could use some help and I'm not sure if you're gonna be here next year but it you wanted, I mean that is if you have the time I'm sure you're super busy and everything but if you wanted well actually you probably don't so-"

I cut him off. I was way past lost. "Sorry, what? Are you trying to ask me to be the assistant manager?"

"Uh, yeah!" Noya answered. "What do you think?" He asked, looking at me.

I was quiet for a moment. I didn't even know if I would be a foregin exchange student next year so I didn't want to waste their current manager's time on training me, but at the same time I already liked these boys and wouldn't mind hanging out with them some more. Plus they looked like they were really good and I do love sports...

"Sure! Why not? I mean, as long as your current manager is ok with training me and having the possibility of me not being here next year."

"Yeah, she's awesome and said it was fine." Noya answered, super excited. "This is great!" He jumped into the air, pumping his fist.

And so that was how it began. I spent the next couple of days either in the school or in the school's gym. Their manager Kiyoko was super nice and taught me the basics of being the manager. I had to take notes during their games and sometimes practice games, I had to make sure the boys didn't run out of water, I would occasionally toss up some of the balls for them to hit, and among other things I also had to make sure everything was cleaned up at the end of the day and all of the equipment was accounted for. It was definitely something to get used to, but I didn't mind. I was having fun. Plus I got to see those insane first years play, along with our crazy upperclassmen. I also learned important things like names. Like man buns name really is Asahi, and although he was huge and tough-looking he was actually just a sweetheart.

I also learned more about Yams girlfriend. She seemed sweet, but Tuskishima seemed like he didn't like her. I mean, I got the feeling he didn't like many people, but especially her. Maybe he was jealous because he didn't hang out with Yams as much anymore? I also couldn't help but notice that I was enjoying my short banters with Tuskishima. He wasn't the type of person to roll over and let you win, and whether it was intentional or not he was kind of funny sometimes.

And before I knew it it was the end of the week and time for my date with Noya. I was nervous, but mostly excited. He was a great guy and couldn't wait to have some fun hanging out with him outside of school and the gym.
