The Thompsons got the call at 4:30 that morning.
Nick had been found!
After all that time, all the anxious waiting, all the stress-filled nights, they finally had found her! Molly had started to cry, her best friend was safe!
The family booked it down to Seattle.
They arrived at the police station there around 6 in the morning, tired but anxious to see Nick. Molly couldn't stop tapping her foot because she was so anxious, and Jeremey comforted her by holding her hand.
The Thompsons felt terrible that Nick left because she felt they didn't care. They loved her so much and wanted to make it right.
An officer walked into the holding room they were in.
"Alright, Nick was caught trying to rob a jewellery store this morning... we actually think that she might have been the culprit robbing multiple stores over the past few weeks."
The temperature in the room dropped.
"W-what?" Liz spoke, and the rest of the family noted the way her voice shook at litt.e
"I'll bring her in, but because we're carrying out an investigation still, she'll have to be handcuffed."

Nick was looking at her hands, refusing to look up. The officers had told them that they had told her she could come talk to the Thompsons, or there was a chance she'd be stuck in a jail cell for a while. She opted to get out.
Now she was sitting in the chair opposite from the Thompson family. Hands in her lap, eyes down. Ed looked at her face, worried to find that she had a bruise under her left eye, and what looked like dried blood from her nose.
His hand curled around Liz's, and she squeezed back. The anxiety ratiating off of everyone was unbearable. Finally Ed broke the silence.
"We're not mad Nick... we never realized just how much you've gone through. We forgave you the moment you apologized to us Nick," he started, his voice slow and soft.
Nick didn't look up at him, her leg bouncing up, and down, and up, and down.
"We know there's an investigation going on right now... we're going to get a lawyer. We're going to sort it all out, and then we want you to come home with us after."
Her head snapped up, eyes wild. "What?"
"We want you back Nick... please come home," Ed said softly. He wanted to hug Nick, but given her fragile state, he wasn't sure if he should push it.
Nick looked around at all the Thompsons. All of them smiled back, love in their eyes. Nick's walls began to fall down.
"But- but I hurt you... I ran away.... I... I..." I stole
The words died in her mouth, but the family knew what she was trying to say.
"You're a young kid put into an impossible situation...I wouldn't even know what to do if I was in your shoes, Nick. Please... trust us, we want to help. We want you to come home," Liz said, her sweet mom voice easing Nick's anxiety.
"I'm so sorry.." Nick whispered, and she began to cry.
Ed got up and went over and hugged her.
"It's okay baby girl. Things are going to be okay."

True to their word, they got a lawyer. Several social service workers, officers, and a therapist talked to Nick for hours. Nick was exahusted but cooperated.
In the end, her charges fell. Since she was acting under the act of an adult forcing her for money, she was not blamed. She was given 60 hours of community service, but she saw it coming off easy.
The Thompson family took her home. She was quiet, and anxious around them at first, and it was awkward. But it got better.
Nick slowly eased back into school and worked with a therapist to overcome some of the fear she had built up while living on the streets. Over time, Nick began to feel normal again.
Over time, she felt safe and comfortable at the Thompsons again.
They even helped her with some of her community service work sometimes. Nick never had felt so happy.
She was glad they had found her, she could never even begin to imagine what would have happened if she had stayed on the streets forever. Already she had gotten into a fight, had been starving, and was so lonely.
Now she was safe at home.
Life was okay again.
