Moving In

Well, today's the day. I'm finally moving out. I feel like this shouldn't be a huge deal, but I'm nervous. If I'm being honest, I'm so f*cking scared right now. I mean, as much as I hate to admit it, my parents have done so much for me! I can't believe I'm already leaving... I really wish I was still a child. I mean, yes, I'm only twenty-two, but I still feel as if I could be on the swings at recess, trying to see how far I could jump off of them. Yet, here I am... It's time for me to grow up. I'm no longer a little girl, and I need to start my own life.
I brought my friend Tonya with me to help me move. I looked at them after I parked in the driveway of my new place.

"I'm honestly so not ready." I said.

"It's okay, I can stay with you tonight if you want me too, Alex." Tonya reassured me.

I smiled at them and nodded. I opened the trunk of my car and looked at the boxes, wondering what I should bring in first. I decided to start with the big stuff and have Tonya help me with the heavier boxes. Quickly, we started carrying the boxes into the house.

We went into the house and noticed it felt creepier than the day I went to check out the house before renting it. It couldn't be that much different. It'd only been about a week and not much could have happened. I shrugged it off and Tonya and I went to go get some more items from the vehicle.

Before we knew it, an hour had passed and we had brought in most of the boxes from outside. We began to unpack. As I unpacked, Tonya went into a different room and I saw a shadow shifting across the floor out of the corner of my eye. Just then, Tonya came back from the other room and I just brushed it off as being paranoid. I breathed a sigh of relief and continued unpacking as Tonya kept looking at me.

"Are you okay?" Started Tonya, "You look troubled."

I nodded, "I'm fine, I'm just being a little bit paranoid!" I smiled nervously.

Tonya nodded and finished unpacking their box. When they got done, they helped me unpack my box, too. After we settled everything, we went back out to the car and relaxed for a little bit. I looked at the time, it was getting late, and I realized I should have called my parents half an hour ago.

"Dammit!" I sighed, "hold on Tonya, I need to make a call."

I sighed and picked up my cellphone, bracing for the yelling of my mother, scolding me for not calling her.
