Scarlett's POV
'C'mom boys, it's time for your bath' Alicia says, holding her hands out for Alex's' brothers to hold.

'But...but Scarlett only just got here' Finn, the youngest of the two says.

'I know but you will have plenty of time at the breakfast table tomorrow morning to catch up' Alicia replies. Before she takes the boys upstairs, she winks at us both and then turns and exits the room.

'Lets get this show on the road!' I say to Alex who is grinning madly at me.

I connect his phone to the speakers in the kitchen, making sure the music isn't so loud that it disturbs the others. Year 3000 by Busted starts playing. Me and Alex start singing along together using wooden spoons as our microphones.

-

'Hey Scar, why is there a bird in here?' Alex asks, pointing across the kitchen, forcing me to turn around to follow the direction of his finger. 'Where?' I ask naively as he pushes a handful of flour into my face. I rush over to the sink to spit out what went into my mouth.

'That's it Alex Tyler Hodder, you're going to pay for that' I say, pushing my hand into the bag of flour and then into his face. He too rushes over to the sink.

As Alex is about to push another handful of flour into my face, he suddenly unclenches his fist over the bag, letting the flour flow through his fingers.

He puts one hand around my waist and pushes my fringe out of my eyes with his little finger. His thumb traces along my forehead and then down behind my ear. He holds my face gently, pulling me closer. I stand on my tiptoes to reach closer to his soft lips.

Our faces are centimetres apart.

My heart beats as I am uncertain as to what will happen next. I want to kiss him but...

Footsteps begin to gently patter down the stairs. Alex lets go of me just as Alicia enters the kitchen. 'What a mess' she exclaims, glancing first at the kitchen then at both of us. 'These cookies better be good' she says, grabbing a mug of tea and then leaving the room again.

'Oh they will be' I shout in reply, still confused at what just happened between me and Alex.

Alex's POV
Why did mum have to walk in and kill the moment? I think. I keep replaying it in my mind, the way Scarlett looked into my eyes and stood on her tiptoes to get closer to my lips. We were mere seconds away from kissing.

I push the two trays of cookies into the oven, feeling the heat on my skin. 'C'mon Alex, we've got Indiana Jones to attend to' Scar says excitedly, turning to exit the kitchen. 'I'm coming' I shout in reply as she is walking up the stairs. It takes me a moment to realise I'm staring at her, my mouth wide open before I gather my composure once again.

-

When I eventually join Scarlett in my room, she has already set up the Xbox. She's sitting on her mattress beside my bed, the duvet wrapped around her shoulders. 'Finally' she says, sighing as she sees me enter the room. 'Hey!' I reply, chucking a pillow at her face.

'You startin'?' She asks jokily.
'Nope' I reply, running to the safety of my bed. 'Watch it Al' she says mimicking her watching me with her fingers. 'Oooooooo I'm scared' I say. She chucks the pillow hard at my face. I guess I deserved that.

'Now pick up your remote and get to work!' Scar says to me, looking at the remote, then my hands. 'Okay boss' I reply jokily.

*buzz**buzz*
The timer alerts us that our cookies are baked. Both me and Scar shoot out the door, eager to see if they were a success.

-
When we reach the oven, we look at the cookies and then stare at each other in amazement. They are massive! They are gooey and choclatley and look amazing. 'Grab the oven glove, quick' I say to Scar. She grabs it as I open the oven. She pulls both trays out and places them carefully on the counter. 'Wow' we both say in unison.

'I'll grab the milk while you grab some plates' Scar says, rushing over to the fridge.
-
Once we are armed with a glass of milk and a cookie each we return upstairs to resume our game of Indiana Jones.
