Chapter 4: The 104th Training Corps Pt.1

     (Y/N), Annie, Reiner and Bertholdt sat on benches in a wagon, a bunch of other kids were there as well. (Y/N) looked out the back of the wagon and watched the rocks go by. They had to go to the training core to get closer to the king in a way. (Y/N) thought to himself and closed his eyes. After a while Reiner tapped him on the shoulder.

"Stop sleeping,"

"I wish I was,"

"We're here," He then hopped out the back and (Y/N) soon followed. The four stayed close together as the veterans soldiers told everyone to line up.The group of four was split into different lines, (Y/N) was in the fourth line, Reiner and Bertholdt were in the fifth line and Annie was in the sixth line. (Y/N) listened as the commandant yelled at someone in his row.

"You there!"

"Yes sir!" (Y/N) recognized that voice, he waited from the voice to speak again.

"Who are you!"

"Armin Arlert, from Shiganshina,"

Why'd he join the military?

"Yeah? That's a stupid name. Your parents give you that?"

He's not wrong, (Y/N) made fun of Armin's name all the time.

"My grandfather,"

"Arlert, what are you doing here?"

"Trying to aid humanity's victory sir!"

"That's wonderful, then you'll feed the titans. Row three about face,"

He moved to the next row and skipped over (Y/N). He yelled at everyone else in the row. In about the sixth or seventh row he picked up a kid by the head, he had the salute the wrong way. (Y/N) heard and saw a girl eating a potato. He chuckled lightly as the commandant dropped Connie Springer on the ground and walked over to the potato girl.

"Hey you, what are you doing?" The girl looked left and right and took another bite of the potato.

"YOU'RE THE ONE I'M TALKING TO! YOU! Who are you!" In a quick motion the girl swallowed the potato in her mouth and saluted.

"Sasha Blouse, from Dauper village, Wall Rose from South District,"

"Sasha Blouse, what are you holding in your right hand?" (Y/N) had seen many frightening things in war, but the presence of this man sent shivers down his spine.

"A boiled potato, the kitchen had a fresh batch and I couldn;t resist,"

"Did you steal it? Why? Why would you choose to eat a potato now?"

"Letting it get cold would be a waste, so I decided I should eat it now,"

"Well, I still don't understand...Why would you eat that potato,"

"Are you asking me why people eat potatoes?" He went silent and all the cadets watched, some scared.

She took the potato in both of her hands and broke off a piece.

"You can have half," She reached it towards him. It wasn't even half.

"Half," He said staring at her, she gave a smile.

Needless to say the commandant made her run and finished with the rest of the cadets. After the little opening ceremony the cadets we're given their beds. (Y/N) got into some more casual clothes and laid on his bed looking at the roof.

"(Y/N), it's dinner time," Bertholdt said looking to his left while he was laying on his bed. He got off the side of his bed and stood up and (Y/N) did the same. They both walked out of the cabin and made their way to the mess hall.
