Tempting Fate

Chapter 3

Doyoung invited me and Janke to the arcade for the day to enjoy ourselves before work starts again. When we arrive we hear, “ugh for the love apples why is this thing not working with me today!” Coming closer I saw that it was Doyoung and Rocky both fighting with a claw machine to get a plushie.  Rocky looked up and saw us.  His face lit up like a Christmas tree and he said, “Great Monique you guys are here. Come and help me win against this man and be my good luck charm.”

He grabbed me by the arm and placed me at his side. Looking to see what these two were fighting for I got my answer real quick. They were both competing against one another to see who can get dog plushie.  Doyoung was on the brink of getting his when he moved the control leaver in the wrong direction leaving it to fall back down.

It led to a very disappointed man to have Janke comfort him. It was so cute to see how their relationship develop. My mind wondered off as I looked at them and then I finally came back to reality because Rocky laced his arms around my waist with a plushie in his one hand. I turned around to hug him when one of my most favourite happy songs came on. Astro’s When You Call My Name, but as I started singing along I felt Rocky stiffen.

Rocky POV

After I won the plushie I turned around to give Monique a back hug with the cute pink dog plushie. She turned around with to give me a proper hug when I hear sing along to my groups song When You Call My Name. I stiffen and look towards Janke and Doyoung with big round eyes mouthing to them “Must I tell her or keep quiet. ”

Janke motion to me very frantic no. Therefore, I just left it, pulled her back asking her "Do you know this group?" She smiled at me saying that it is one of her favourite groups and one of her most happy songs. Not really knowing what to do I just tell her "I love this song as well."

We travel from game to game pleasing each other and trying to win. After ten more games, this place decided to play another one of our songs and this time it is crazy, sexy cool. I look over to Monique and saw she is doing the choreography to the song perfectly behind Janke trying to distract her from beating her score. I might have found my significant other, but what is bothering me is how she has not put two and two together about whom I am.

Deciding to leave it for now, I go over to them to enjoy the evening further. Doyoung grabbed me by the arm and pulled me away from Janke and Monique. I looked at him and he looked back to make sure that both woman were distracted enough to not hear him. “Janke told me that Monique is still oblivious to the fact that I am in one of her favourite kpop groups as well. Therefore, when she finds out who you are she either will have a heart attack or be overjoyed. So you have to tread carefully on how you are going to tell her you are actually Rocky from her favourite group. Think very carefully about this.” Looking over his shoulder to see Monique singing along I looked back at him and said, “You know I might have actually fallen deeper for because she does not know who I am and is not going to be in a relationship with me because of my fame. She is in this for me, the real me.”

Doyoung looked at me and said, “Man you’ve got it good and proper but be sure to give me my thank you at the wedding. I did not nearly loose an ear for nothing.” Laughing I gave him a whack behind the head and made my way towards the girls.

Monique POV:

This was by far one of the best days. I enjoyed myself so much. Doyoung went home pouting because Janke and me kept on beating him in the games. After we ate dinner, Rocky took me home. I invited him up for a hot chocolate and a movie before he goes home. He agreed without hesitation. Taking off our wet boots by the door, we made our way to the couch before I got started on the hot chocolate.

“Hey can I please use your bathroom?” Rocky asked. “Sure you can use the one in my room. The guest bathroom I am busy revamping.” I said as I showed him where it is. Going back to the kitchen, I poured water into the kettle and waited for it boil. The mugs ready I went to the TV and put on my favourite Astro album before we started the movie. All night started playing and it made me feel super nostalgic for some reason. Absentmindedly I started singing along while I made the hot chocolate. Grabbing my favourite snacks, I put them on the tray while I got the milk from the fridge.

Rocky POV:

Coming out of her bathroom, I came face to face with my own face. Moving her sweater away from her closet door my eyes grew as round as saucers. She even has our season greetings, how she has not figured out who I am yet? Suddenly all night started playing, I went to the doorway and saw her while she is in the kitchen. She was swaying to the beat of the music while singing and not missing a beat. She moved to the living room, placed the tray on the table, and turned around to see me.

Smiling she came to me, took my hand and sat down on the couch. Giving me the remote control she said, “You choose the movie I am too tired to think.” Placing her head on my shoulder, she looked at the screen and we agreed to my annoying brother. The movie barely began when I heard her breathing slow down to a steady pace. Taking her head and placing it on my lap. Slowly I started fanning my fingers through her hair and I thought to myself. She is truly a blessing in disguise, not only has she made my life a lot better with her never ending sarcasm but the fact that even though she seems to be cold and emotionless, she has a big heart.

Janke told me that she really like me as a member of Astro and she recently said to Janke that her new biases is Jinjin and me. That little fact made me happy but what truly makes my stomach full of butterflies is the fact that with one smile she improves my day. The way she starts singing along to music without realizing she does it. How she gets lost in her own mind when the right song comes on.

Janke told me to be careful with her and not rush into anything because of stuff that happened in her past. She suddenly grabbed onto my hand and placed it near her heart, clutching as if it is the only lifeline she has. That is when I realized that I truly am in love with her. All these small stuff she does without realizing it has made me fall deeper in love with her.
