“And they lived happily ever after…The end!”
You snapped the fairy tale book shut, smiling down at the young children who were looking up at you with interested eyes and gaping mouths. You were seated on a bench in a park, near the playground with a children book in hand. You would usually head to the park whenever you were free with a kid book in hand, sit at the same bench and read out a story from the book you brought to the children, who were always hanging around the playground whenever they finish their school. They loved hearing your silky voice produce those magical words. Even the adults adored you, though they did not understand why you still read those childish stories.
“More, more!” the younglings chanted.
You let out a laugh. “Sorry guys, but that’s all for today.” They let out disappointed moans and whines, which made you giggle. They were so cute! “Plus, it’s starting to snow. I wouldn’t want you to freeze if I continue telling you stories.” You were right. It was early December then.
The excited children smiled toothily when they saw the flakes slowing falling through the air. “Do you guys know who is doing this?” you asked in a loud whisper, being mysterious to add to the mood.
“Um…Santa Claus?” one answered, unsure. You shook your head, your (H/C) slapping your face softly.
“Nope!”
“I know, I know!” a child cried.
“Yes?” you grinned generously.
“It’s Jack Frost!” he replied, bouncing on his heels, his hands curled into small tight fists.
“Correct!” you replied, smiling widely. There was a cheer from him.
Laughing, you shooed them back to the playground, often sending glances at them while reading your fiction adult novel. Their parents and guardians entrusted you to watch over the little ones and being a nice girl, you did not refuse. Soon, the adults came back from wherever they went and thanked you before leaving with their children. You waved back as the young kids waved good bye at you when they left. Soon, you were alone with only your books and the snow accompanying you.
After your (E/C) eyes travelled along the last line of that chapter you were reading, you dog-ear marked the page and closed the book, letting your eyes rest. Your vision fell upon the view in front, which was a playground, before travelling up the sky. The snow had not stopped falling and you were thinking that wearing only a coat was not enough. You could feel the cold seeping in. To warm up a bit, you stood up, picked up your books and decided to walk about for a while. Although it was starting to turn late evening, you put your home aside and strolled deeper into the trees.
Your boots made reminders in the snow as you walked. You loved to explore new places and the woods was definitely on the list. Soon, you were half way deep. You looked back to see that your foot prints were covered by snow so the trail had disappeared. Thinking you’d worried about heading back later, you continued venturing further in. After some minutes, your legs were aching slightly. You started searching for a place to rest. Sitting down on a large rock, you massaged your legs softly, glancing through your phone for new messages. You snapped shut your phone and looked up, (E/C) eyes smiling with your lips. It was a beautiful sight, almost resembling fantasy shots.
The leaves shredded trees poked the blue sky while snowflakes gently floated down the ground, covering the once green land.
You were snapped back to reality when a voice appeared, not far from where you were. It was a joyful laughter and a scream of excitement. Growing curious, you got up immediately, brushed off what little snow that gathered on your coat and jogged towards the source of voice.
