"Hey, Dad, What's your job?" A young, twelve year old boy asked. He was sitting beside his father, a tall, Rugged man who was in his late 20's.
"A hunter of course!" His father grinned.
'Hunters' are elite members of humanity who are capable of tracking down secret treasures, rare beasts, or even other individuals. They can also access locations that regulars cannot access. Even with that, some hunters usually hide in the dark, even with their advantageous situations.
Picking themselves up, the father and son duo headed straight ahead to a one way alley. Their surroundings started to change from the gray concrete floor to a more floral palette. Still, it didn't reveal anything out of the ordinary.
Well, Not yet.
To the naked eye, what's infront of them was only a dead end made up of solid bricks. But for the taller man, it was a door made for them to get back home. This 'door' was made out of an advanced type of technique that allows a living being to use and manipulate their own life energy. Commonly used by hunters, this is called: Nen.
The child beside him was staring in awe, Though he had seen it for more than a couple hundred times, He still couldn't wrap his brain around it.
The 'door' opened up and revealed a big cottage house surrounded by lush greenery. Near the house was a small lake, it's green alkaline hue made it look as if it was a portal straight to heaven. Small lily pads circled along it as the sound of bees echoed through their ears. There was an endless variety of flowers parallel to the lake. Daisies, roses, lavander, tulips, everything was there.
"I see that you two have returned. How was outside, Y/n? Your siblings were looking for you a while ago." A soft yet, direct voice came out of the cottage door. There, a woman, who was no more than the same age as the man beside Y/n, walked out of the open wooden door. As she passed by a few moss bushes with her bare feet, the noticable smile that was exchanged between Y/n's parents almost made him barf of what was about to happen next.
A kiss."Gross." Was all that he could mutter up. Y/n left the two love birds alone as he went in their house. The strong aroma of dinner tickled his nose, saliva almost falling from his mouth. Y/n walked to their kitchen and saw that surprisingly, it was his sister cooking.
S/n (Sister's name) doesn't usually succeed in indoor chores, especially cooking."I sure hope that isn't poisoned" Y/n snickered. He heard another one from behind him, it was his older brother, B/n (Brother's name). S/n gave them a death glare as she continued cooking the delicacy, pork stew.
"Instead of poking fun at me, how about you two help me arrange everything before mom and dad get back here?"
S/n said.B/n let out a chuckle, "Since when were you so bossy? Jeez. I'm the oldest one here, ya'know? Don't be so full of yourself."
S/n rolled her eyes at him and stared at Y/n. He looked up and saw her sister hiding an upset face. Realizing why,
Y/n stepped on his older brother's foot and headed to their cupboard that contained ceramic plates, silver utensils, and glass cups. His brother let out a hiss of pain but soon after, followed his yongest sibling in arranging the table.
As the night goes by, the siblings waited for their parents to finally come back. They were already starving and the smell of the stew was not helping.
To their joy, the children heard footsteps coming from outside. The footsteps were different from whenever they come back from their daily walks. It sounds as though it was hurried.
Their joy now turned into worry as the sound of boots and flesh crunched through it's way into the prickly grass. The wooden door opened up swiftly and revealed terrified faces on their mother and father.
"My children, dinner has got to wait! We need to leave straight away! Leave everything, move, now!" Their father yelled. Y/n's mother was already moving them to the back of their house. "Please, there is no time to explain right now, so please, just run!" She desperately voiced out.
A loud bang came out of the entrance to their estate. The so-called Hidden in plain sight door was now visible for the outside world to see. A big hole now exposed; There, two men stood by eachother, one was taller and well built than the other, yet they both equally gave out an intimidating atmosphere. There was another silhouette from behind them, smaller, frailer but indistict.
In an instant, they were already behind the L/n family. Y/n's mother screamed for mercy as she bowed down to them, for their father, he was glued to his place, terror-struck.
"I, Silva Zoldyck, with the accompany of my man servant, have been sent to massacre the last remaining bloodline of the L/n Family. Surrender now, and recieve a quick and painful death." The taller man announced. His colorless hair flowed throught the wind as he towered among the terrified family. His accomplice just stood at where he was at, not saying anything as he smirked and puffed his cigar directly at S/n's face.
Y/n's father took in a sharp intake of air, "Run! I'll hold them off!" He yelled. His wife and children nodded to one another and started to run in the vast forest. Luckily, Due to the years they've been here, they new a lot of paths to take.
"Is dad gonna be okay?" Y/n looked back at his father, possibly the last time he'll ever see him. The mother did not answer as she just choked back tears. Suddenly, they heard a deathning scream
It was S/n's.
The man-servant who was with the white haired man was grabbing
S/n's face with his palms. S/n's feet were kicking around as they saw her tears overflowing from the man's palms, her muffled screams sounded like music to his pale ears. His face was streatched into a smile as he squeezed tighter on S/n's face, the sound of her head popping was heard as the remains of her skull were all splattered for the remaining living members to see.The man sighed as he stared at S/n's headless body and frowned, "Such a waste."
B/n and Y/n threw up from the sight, their sister's flesh were all splattered on their hands, even small bits of her skull were stuck to it. Y/n blew out more from seeing her eyeball roll infront of him, the veins were all still attached around it.
Their mother stood up and pulled their collars forcully as she ran with her sons in both of her hands. B/n was running weakly from throwing up, his hands clasped his stomach from the pain, if only they had dinner earlier, he could have had a little more energy left of him. With that disadvantage, he, too, was left in the hands of death. B/n's head was slammed repeatedly against a nearby tree until his screams where nowhere heard. The last sibling Y/n had left, died infront of him. Even with tremendous amount of pain, Y/n's mother ran away quickly with her one last son.
Now, There were only two of them left. Y/n, and his Mother.
Y/n's mother came to a stop, her heavy breathes showed signs of hyperventilation and asthma. Her eyes reflected the lack of hope she's had for the past minutes of running and seeing her children die one after the another until only was one left, she wanted to kill herself right then and there. But she couldn't.
She looked at Y/n and knew that she was left with two choices. Either she, or her son dies. It was obvious on which one she's gonna to pick. She took her son's hand and spoke,
"Y/n, look. I know this is hard for both of us but you'll have to go out there alone. There's a man that I'd like for you to look for, his name is Ging Freecss. He'll explain everything to you once you find him, I promise. But for now, your only priority is to live. I'll use my remaining energy to take you to a place somewhere far from here, take advantage of your surroundings and do your best."
A white foggy substance wrapped around Y/n, the last thing he saw was his mother's head getting severed and the man trying to grab him back.
