"George are you all packed?" George's mum shouted from down the stairs.
George had moved away from his hometown a year ago. His Dad got offered a job in another town, of course his Dad took it. George didn't enjoy moving for many reasons, the main one being that he couldn't see his bestfriend everyday like he used too. Lucky for him, they were going back home tomorrow; same town, same street, same house. George was nervous, his worst fear would be that his bestfriend, Max, had made a new bestfriend and now there would be 3 of them and George would have to try and fit in just like before he became friends with Max.
"Yeah, I told you that." George replied, he was irritated because his Mum wouldn't get off his case. This was the 5th time that night she'd asked if he'd finished packing.
* Time skip *
Beep Beep
George's alarm was going off, it was set for 6am just like his Mum had asked. Up and ready by 9am, just like his Mum had asked.
The airport was packed, people were running around everywhere. George hated crowds and groups, it always made him feel smaller and vulnerable. There was no surprise there, George was very skinny, he would never be able to win a fight if he was picked on. It was early afternoon when they got on the flight, they had back of the plane seats. The flight would take an hour, George would've preferred to drive even if it took longer. George got bored easily, his Mum was talking to the people next to her and his Dad was reading his book and his Dad had taken the window seat.
When they finally landed, they made their way straight to their house. His parents hadn't sold it because they knew they were coming back, instead they payed for two houses the whole time which George didn't mind because that meant he knew his surroundings AND his bestfriend, he hoped, was just next door. As they were pulling into the driveway, George got so nervous, his stomach flipped in every direction and he could feel himself shaking. He stepped out the car, letting the breeze hit his face and squinting towards his bestfriends house while the sun blinded him, almost as if it was shielding it. Walking into the house felt different, it was cold but it wasn't empty, furniture was still right where it was a year ago.
"George!"
George jumped, turning around, his face lit up when he saw who it was.
"Max!"
Both boys found themselves charging towards each other, throwing themselves into a long waited hug and laughing.
"I missed you! You need to come back to mine, we've all missed you!"
George didn't care about unpacking his suitcase and instead ran to Max's.
"Hi George, we missed you!" Max's Mum sang, bringing George into a small hug and letting the boys go upstairs into Max's room.
"Check out the new room!" Max said, swinging the door open and watching George's face.
"This is sick!" George said, entering the room and glancing around as Max closed the door.
The room was a square room painted white with one large window on the far wall. In the back left corner there was a raised platform, made of wood with steps leading up where there was a desk and light blue storage cupboards.
"You think so? I copied Clay, except his colour was-"
"Lime green?" George interrupted, smirking when he knew he got it right.
Just as they were talking about him, Clay let himself into the room. George glanced over to him, he had changed, alot. His hair was longer, just below his ears now and dirty blonde. Skin was tanned, almost matching his hair colour. His cheeks were dotted in light brown freckles, very few of them. His jawline was fierce, it stuck out a lot on his face. He wore a lime green hoodie (of course) with a black smiley face on it and black ripped jeans, his shoes were black vans (yes, he had good shoes on this time).
"Clay, get out!" Max said, trying to push his brother, who was much taller than him, out the door.
"i'm just saying hello to dear Georgie here, I haven't seen him since he got back!" Clay replied, peering over Max's shoulder towards George and waving. "Wow, George you look so different!"
"Is that a good thing?" George replied, glancing towards the mirror self consciously.
"Yes! You look amazing!"
George blushed while Clay got pushed out the door.
"Get that blush off your face, rule number 9." Max jokes, wheezing just like Clay did.
"As if..." George said, rolling his eyes to hide the true feeling he was feeling.
Clay was just bringing back some old banter, right? He was flirting because that's what friends do. George had always found Clay attractive but never thought what it meant, he thought it was normal. He's not gay, surely.
"I'm just blushing because I'm not used to it, not because I'm gay!" George told himself in his head while Max started on something else. His mind was all over the place, he was feeling a little overwhelmed too. Right now, he just wanted to go home where he could think all of this through properly, was he gay? Would people accept him if he was? Who would he tell first? He slowed himself down and gathered himself together.
"You are not gay because of your bestfriends brother!" He told himself, trying to process everything.
"George, are you even listening?" Max asked, snapping George out of his thoughts.
HIIIII, I'm hoping you like this story. I'm still going to be writing on the other one so keep checking that one!
