Chapter 9

I watched Braxton get off the bus. He was smiling, which surprised me. "Did you have a good day at school?" I asked.

"Sure. Let's leave it at that."

I smirked but as he turned away to go upstairs i rolled my eyes. He doesn't even ask me how my dad was! Wow.

"Aunt Lydia?"

She looked up from chopping onions. Her eyes were watering like crazy. "Yes dear?"

"Do you ever miss...mom?"

She stopped cutting the onion and put the knife down.  "Yes. Of course i miss her. She was my little sister. And she meant a lot to me."

I nodded. I held back tears, and i could tell that Aunt Lydia was too. "It's just that i want her back. And i keep pretending that everything's fine but nothings fine. My mood swings are worse than ever and i'm really depressed."

She looked up at me. "I know it's hard Kizzy. But i believe in-"

"Yea everyone says that. And then everything goes wrong after that. I'm such an idiot and i can't get over it. I'm sorry i gotta go."

I stopped what i was doing an ran outside. I ran down the block and didn't stop. I didn't look back once. I just kept going.

Then i stopped near the end of the block near a park and climbed up to the top of the slide. I put my arms around my legs and tried to catch my breathe and process everything.

Die. No don't die. No one needs you. Nora and Cedar need you. Farah and Riley will keep bullying you. Yea...i know. But maybe not.

Out of the corner of my eye i saw Farah walking towards the park. I tried my best for her not to see me, which worked. She was talking to some older guy.

He looked like he was in high-school. But he didn't look friendly. He looked vile. Just like Farah. Ha they could be twins. The monsters.

I wonder what they're talking about. And what do you know, i overheard them. "Xander i gave you 10 pounds of coke last week. And now you want more? Damn you'll be high as hell the next time i see you."

I tried to process in what i just heard. And it finally clicked. Farah's a drug dealer?
