“HE WILL BE UNDER SURVEILLANCE AND THAT’S AN ORDER!”

Our Captain delivers an outrageous rage when he gave the orders. I didn’t manage to went to his office and explain to him that me and Hank goes with the same theory.

He was standing right there when my team had those arguments about Jayson Henderson.

ME:”you can’t seriously send your people and put our concentration only to Mr. Henderson.”

HANK BUCKNER:”Prescott is right, we need to expand our surveillance and not focus ourselves onto this guy.

CPT. FULLER:”Both of you, in my office, NOW!”

Hank and I look at each other, Pete and Marty on the other hand was worried. We all know what Cpt. Fuller is like when he’s angry. He doesn’t listens to reasons. And I understand the pressure he had because his daughter is one of the potential pop candy victims.

Everybody was shock when our chief’s voice echoed in our office. “I SAID IN MY OFFICE!” Hank and I rushed through his office. We occupied the chairs in front of Cpt. Fuller table. Our Captain walks backs and forth with heavy breathing to compose himself.

CPT. FULLER:”Which part of the “profile fits” both of you doesn’t understand?”

HANK BUCKNER:”We understand that Captain, but you also need to consider other options.”

CPT. FULLER:”Like Jayson Henderson is not capable of doing such horrible things.”

ME:”With all due respect Captain, I still think pop candy is one of ours.”

Cpt. Fuller glazed at me; I didn’t avoid his eye nor bend to keep a firm stand to my statement.

CPT. FULLER:”Stop! This obsession of yours is ruining this investigation.”

ME:”It’s not an obsession…”

CPT. FULLER:”One more word from you Prescott and you will be out of this case!”

I keep my silence, Hank look at me with compassion. He smoothes his hands on his mouth and took a deep breath.

HANK BUCKNER:”We will follow your orders Captain, but we hope you would consider our proposal.”

CPT. FULLER:”I’ll take that into consideration, now, get out of my office.”

Hank and I went back to work; I gathered the teams to arrange surveillance to Jayson Henderson.

ME:”We don’t leave him out of sight. Garrison, Buckner, both of you will watched him on day from 0800 to 1300 hrs, Talons and I will relieved you at 1300 hours and monitored his moves, Delta team will help us in this case, at 1800 Det. Fraser and Det. Davidson will relieved me and Talons, they will be relieved by Det. Gray and Det. Miller, and they will watched Henderson till 2400 hours. From that hour we will cycled our duties until Henderson strike.”

HANK BUCKNER:”You better be right Prescott.”

ME:”Cpt. Fuller better be right. Because if he doesn’t we’re just waiting our time.”

Jayson Henderson was monitored round the clock. We monitored him for three days now and there are no any signs that he might strike.

HANK BUCKNER:”This is stupid.” Hank shows some contempt when Marty and I relieved them from their duty.

ME:”You don’t give orders Buckner”

HANK BUCKNER:”Yeah, but we can oppose with the orders especially if we thought the order doesn’t make any sense.”

MARTY TALONS:”Cpt. Fuller considered your suggestion, so stop whining!”

Me and my partner monitored Jayson, at 1600 hours Henderson went to his car, we followed his car, and he stops at the convenience store. We waited for fifteen minutes. I was pretty bored with his monotonous scheduled when I saw a particular face exits at the convenience store.

ME:”Is that Rain Fuller?” I ask my partner Marty.

MARTY TALONS:”Yeah, I think that’s her.” He pulled down his aviator a little bit when he turned his look on me.

ME:”Focus Marty.”

Rain Fuller was 2 meters away from the store when Jayson Henderson exits the premises. I observed both of their moves. Rain Fuller attention is with her bag she is looking for something.

MARTY TALONS:”She does have a body guard right? Where is he?”

ME:”I don’t know”

Henderson approached Rain Fuller. They exchange words then Henderson looks around and then suddenly grabs Rain’s left arm. Rain persists; she called the name of her bodyguard.

Marty and I rushed through them. We both pulled our guns and point it to Henderson.

MARTY TALONS:”Put your hands in your head… I said put your hands behind your hand.”

ME:”Rain, come here.” Cpt. Fuller daughter runs towards my direction. “Stay behind me.”

MARTY TALONS:”Now on your knees.” He ordered Henderson.

After Henderson bend his knees Marty handcuff him. I tend to Rain and ask where her body guard is.

RAIN FULLER:”He needs to go to the bathroom.”

We took Henderson and Rain with her bodyguard in our office. Pete Garrison took Rain statement. Marty and Hank questioned Henderson.

CPT. FULLER:”No more hunches, no more instincts Prescott.”

ME:”You heard your daughter’s statement Henderson was just asking if she left her cell phone in the store.”

CPT. FULLER:”Yeah, and that could be a trick; I can’t believe you are so naïve.”

ME:”I am not naïve Sir, I am trying to figure things out. We can’t just lock Henderson, if we don’t have more evidence we have to set him free.”

CPT. FULLER:”That would be tomorrow Prescott. We can lock him for 24 hours, so I expect you to have the evidence we need to put that son of a bitch in jail for the rest of his life.”

ME:”Sir, you are making an assumption, Henderson is not proven guilty yet and he has the right…”

CPT. FULLER:”Right? What Right Prescott, right to abduct my daughter, right to murder those other innocent kids because he has this personal hatred with you.”

ME:”You emotion is clouding your judgment.”

Cpt. Fuller points his finger at my face with a menacing look.

CPT. FULLER:”Don’t, just don’t”

After 24 hours no hard evidence points to Jayson Henderson, Pete Garrison did an investigation at the convenience store. The owner statement collaborates with Henderson statement and Rain Fuller’s statement.

Our captain was anxious with the idea that we have to set Henderson free. In the end he faced and put the blame with his daughter bodyguard.

MARTY TALONS:”So, does this mean that Henderson is clear. Are we going to stop watching him?”

PETE GARISSON:”I think we should continue.”

HANK BUCKNER:”That would be pointless; Henderson knows he’s under surveillance, the best thing to do is to lay low for a while.”

ME:”You were all right, I will ask someone to watch Henderson, and we can’t just let him walk away just like that. Everybody is a suspect, we can’t be off guard.”

The day ends with a lead that leads to nothing. Pop Candy managed to survive again.
