I was amused by this gift.
"You made this?" I asked.
"Well, I'm not much of an artist but it was the least I could do for you. I remember you telling me once that the artist in you had died. I didn't believe you, so I made this for you." She said with an extremely peaceful smile.
Pov ends
"I want you to start painting again, however it might be. I want you to have colors in your life." Gauri said cupping Om's face with one hand.
Om quickly went beside his bed and opened a drawer.
He came towards Gauri and gave her a small box.
"This is for you." Om said.
Gauri looked excited and quickly opened the box. Inside the box was a beautiful snow globe with the exact same Christmas tree as that of the ball night.
"I believe you had a good evening yesterday, so to remember it I thought of this." Om said.
"Om, thank you so-so much!" Gauri said and quickly wrapped her arms around Om's neck pulling him into a hug.
Om too hugged her back and stayed in the embrace for a long time.
Later the day went with having fun with the family.
Evening when Jhanvi asked Anika and Gauri to join her in cooking, Om came from behind.
"Mom, she can't cook. We would all have to stay hungry if Ani and Gauri cook today."
Om used to call Anika 'Ani' as she had become best friends with him from the day they had met.
"Hey! Your big brother; the great wall of SSO has taught me how to cook, okay? And we know that you teach Gauri, so whatever you get to eat today will be your and your brother's lessons. Okay Omi, now get out of this kitchen."
Anika said in a sarcastic manner.
" badi Mom, what kind of bahu have you got? Throwing my brother out of the kitchen huh?" Shivaay said coming from behind rubbing his hands as if to tease Anika.
"Shivaay no, no!" Anika shrieked as she knew what was going to happen next. Soon enough Shivaay was chasing Anika and they ran around the house like Tom and Jerry.
Gauri laughed at this and looked at Om
"Poor di." She stated.
"Ani is no poor fellow." Om said coming beside Gauri.
"You know, she was right. Why don't you and Gauri cook today? I am sure you will not disappoint us." Said Jhanvi and made her way out before any of them stopped her.
"Okay then, assistant chef; what do we make?" Gauri asked Om.
"Assistant chef?! Hello, you are the assistant chef, miss Sharma. I am the head chef." Om said
Om and Gauri started bickering; when they heard Jhanvi.
"We wish to have dinner today!"
When they finally stopped bickering and started making dinner.
Dinner table:
"So tell us what you both have made." Dadi asked
"Yes dadi. We have made dal, rice, (and few main course dishes)" Om said
"No dadi! Om has made all this I am not that good in cooking yet." Gauri said sheepishly; giving Om his share of credits.
Everyone praised Om for his dishes.
"If Om has made all this than what did you make?" dadi asked
"I made this!" Gauri said bringing forward a big bowl filled with gajar ka halwa.
Dadi and the Oberois looked surprised.
Gauri and Om served everyone.
"Gauri! Wow! I swear I have never eaten this good gajar ka halwa!" Jhanvi aunty praised Gauri.
Everyone praised Gauri except Om.
"Om, everyone has praised her. You will not praise your best friend?" Rudra asked teasingly.
"Rudra, he must be thinking of some poem or shaayri, aren't you Om?" Anika said winking an eye.
"No, I am not praising because I have not eaten any halwa." Om stated to everyone's disbelief.
"What is wrong with you? Why on earth would you not have this heavenly halwa?" Shivaay asked.
"He did not have halwa because he doesn't like sweet, isn't it Om?" Gauri stated.
"Exactly! Instead I had this beautiful paneer starter!" Om said
"Gauri has made the paneer too!?" Shakti asked.
"Yes! I know he doesn't like sweet so I had to make something else for him." Gauri quickly blabbered out; and blushed hard after realizing it.
"You had to make something else for him?" Anika asked in a funny tone.
"Because HE doesn't like sweet." Shivaay added to tease his lil sister.
"Shut up people. She has made such good food. And you all are teasing her! Eat quietly now!" Dadi ordered everyone and laughed to herself.
Everyone quickly shut up and put a bit in their mouths.
Not able to control hard for long everyone burst into laughter almost instantly.
