"Almost there!" My husband insisted for the 100th time, "Trust me babe when you see it it will all be worth it."
Typhon, my beloved husband wanted us to go on a five-hour road trip from Miami to Jacksonville FL. He insisted I needed a break from the hospital, and a road trip would be the perfect break, but I knew better.
A month ago I was emitted to the hospital for a liver transplant, having one of the rarest types of blood didn't help me find a donor and those who were a perfect match weren't willing to go through with the surgery or give us the liver of their deceased loved ones.
Typhon just wants to go on this road trip so someone will hopefully see the sign on the back of our car.
"Can we stop at Greenbeat to eat?"I asked glancing over at him, grinning.
"I was hoping for Mcdonalds...but since you asked nicely..." He sighed, refusing to look at me. I unexpectantly broke out laughing, "It's your favorite restaurant!"
He said nothing, as a smile slowly made its way onto his face, he always knows how to cheer me up.

We finished ordering our food and settled into a comfortable argument about what animal was the most loyal.
"You will never see a dog not be excited when you come home!"
"That's the thing-"
"Excused me?" A pale white man asked, approaching our table, "Is that your car outside? The one with the liver sign?"
"Yes!" Typhon practically yelled, but I just nodded my head prompting him to continue.
"I'm Noah, my husband Christ recently passed and he happens to have the same blood type as you do, I-"
"Please sit." I urged, patting the seat next to me.
Once he got settled down he continued, "My husband has always wanted to donate his organs when he passed away, and even though I know this would be my way of honoring him, it's challenging for me just-" he paused breaking down in tears.
I reached over to give him a hug but he stopped me, "No-no, it's okay. I saw your sign on your car and I realized this w-was god's way of telling me to let him go. And as much as it pains me...I know this is what he would have wanted."
At this point where all crying, I could hear Typhon in the back of my mind repeating thank you over and over again, but all I could think about was how he was right.
It was all worth it.
