'In one jump.... All of this will be over....'
These were the thoughts of a girl with short hazel hair and light brown eyes. She stood on the edge of a cliff, overlooking a city, which seemed beautiful under the moonlight. At the bottom of the cliff, waves crashed against the rocks, giving off a calming sound.
'The perfect scene for my last moments....'
She took a deep breath and looked down. The fall from this height would be enough to kill her, and if that didn't work, the jagged rocks surely will. When she looked down, she noticed her scarred wrists. The healed skin a lighter shade than her dark skin. She remembered how her parents reacted when they found out about the cuts.
~Flashback~
"Shay why are you hiding your wrists?" My mother asked.
"It's nothing..."
"It's certainly something if you're hiding them." My father said, his words slurring as he held a bottle in his hand.
"I told you it's nothing."
"It's not nothing, show me your writs." My mother said, voice laced with venom as she reached towards my writs.
"IT'S NOTHING!" I yelled as I stood up and retracted my hands.
SMACK!!
"DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY!" My mother yelled as slapped me across the face.
My cheek was red as a line of blood dripped down the corner of my mouth, my expression shocked. My mother grabbed my writs forcefully and gasped. Her expression was shocked and after a few seconds it quickly turned to rage.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! CUTTING YOUR WRISTS?! YOU ATTENTION WHORE!!" My mother screamed as she grabbed my hair.
I yelped in pain as she threw me on the floor.
"SHE DID WHAT?!" My father suddenly spoke up, words slurred. He goes towards me and looks at my wrist.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!" He yelled at me as he let go of my wrist.
By now I was already crying, knowing what would happen next if I stayed any longer. Before my father could yell any more and raise a hand, I jumped up and ran towards the front door. I grabbed my keys and quickly unlocked my car. My father was just about to grab me by the shoulder when I slammed the front door in his face.
"That should buy me time.." I said as I got in my car as quickly as I could and started backing out the driveway.
I then drove to my friends house and hoped she was home. Lukcily she was and as soon as she opened her door I hugged her crying. My friend understood quickly after i told her what happened and happily let me stay for a few days.
~End Flashback~
She hated that memory, since her parents did nothing but yell at her, not even the least bit concerned. Now, she was even more determined to end this and she took a shakey breath. Before she stepped towards her watery doom, she heard loud footsteps running towards her and a familiar voice yelling.
"WAIT! DON'T DO IT! PLEASE! SHAY!"
Shay looked behind her to see her best friend who had helped her through all of this standing only a few feet away from her, hands on her knees and gasping for air.
"Please... don't do this Shay.." She said as she looked up at her with eyes filled with tears.
".....I'm sorry Lu, but.... it was never meant to be.." Shay said as she smiled for the last time and stepped off the edge.
Lu screamed and ran towards the edge, but was too far away to save her best friend. Shay sighed as the wind rushed around her, knowing that the jagged rocks were growing near. She saw small memories of her short life. The first time she met Lu, the bullying in highschool, the abuse of her parents, the exciting moment when she heard she got accpepted into her dream school, her college graduation that her parents didn't bother to attend.. That one was the most recent as it was only yesterday. As she neared closer to her doom, she remembered one final thing, the only thing that gave her a safe space from her abusive parents and the stress of homework. The Key To Your Heart... it was a BL Otome game that she had completed for the 10th time over two days ago, she knew the game like the back of her hand due to playing it so much. It was a nice game with good story-telling and great artwork.
'It's too bad I won't get to meet the voice actors for it though... In my next life, I hope to be in a nice family, and I'll promise to work my hardest.'
Those were her last thoughts before she hit the ground. Surprisingly, she didn't die instantly, she remained concious for a few more seconds.
'Everything hurts...but at least I finally did it...' She thought as black dots shrouded her vision, she could see the sunrise as waves crashed below her. And all of a sudden, everything stopped hurting, and it was pitch black.
A magnificent figure stood in front of the girl who had turned 21 a couple days ago. The figure was invisible to all other lifeforms so none would see. "Poor soul," The figure spoke in what seemed like a thousand voices speaking at the same time. "such a kind one you were, and yet you were brought into such a foul place and suffered a terrible end. I shall bring forth your dying wish and reincarnate you into a place that held dear to your heart. May you fullfill your wishes there and with the blessings of gods greater than life and death, we wish you a swell journey in the game called life."
'It's warm.....' I thought to myself as I opened my eyes, only to see nothing.
'Is this the afterlife?' I questioned as I looked around.
'Hmm... how come I don't feel anything...' I thought as I looked down at my body. "Wha-?!" I exclaimed as I saw nothing but a dim light in place of my arms and legs.
"What the..? Am I some sort of spirit or is this just a physical apparition of my soul..?" I asked myself as I tried moving around.
Surprisingly I could barely move. After what i think were a couple months, I could start to feel my surroundings and move a bit. My surroundings felt soft and squishy, and occasionally I would feel a small amount of pressure near my head and upper body. After I think a few more months (It's really hard to tell time in here) I could move my legs a bit. So as a test, I tried moving my leg in a kicking fashion and it kinda worked. I did this a few more times before I got bored. After what I think was a few hours, I saw a bright light that overtook my small dim light. And I felt a sensation pushing me towards the big light. Along with that I could hear faint voices saying something along the lines of "Push!" and "You're hurting my hand!" The last one was a bit weird but I continued being pushed towards the light. When I looked down towards my body, I saw hands! My hands had once again appeared, but they were a bit chubby and small...sorta like a baby's hand! Then I realized. I wasn't in the afterlife! 'Then that means....I'm...alive?'
