(Y/n's POV)
Damn he was fast. He easily beat me to the first line, and I pushed myself to go faster. I caught a glimpse of his face as he passed me; it was extremely determined. Huh, so this arrogant little kid wanted to beat me? Not gonna happen. I had done this drill so many times it was etched into my soul.
He beat me to the second and third line as well, but that was when I knew I really got going. I usually had a second wind, and the turning and touching the line and losing your momentum was at more of a minimum now. We tied at the half court line, then the next line, and the line after that. We both reached the end of the court at the same time as well, and I pushed myself to beat him. My feet hit the ground at an impossible speed and my breath came hard and fast, burning my throat. I couldn't let him win.
Dunno why I couldn't let him win, but I sure as hell couldn't.
We arrived at the line at such a close time that I couldn't tell who won. I sprinted past the line of people waiting for their turn, high-fiving Sugawara, who was next up. He shot off, competing with a kid I didn't know.
I hurriedly ran back to the top of the line, asking the person who was there who won. It was Noya. "Who won?" I asked. "Me or Tsukishima?"
Noya smirked. "Tsuki beat you by a hair."
"Damn it." I scowled. Next time. I would so get him next time.I went to the back of the line, looking over at the line of competitors and spotting Tsukishima. He had a smirk on his face. I stuck my tongue out at him childishly, and he actually laughed! I didn't know he was capable of doing that. He stuck his tongue out at me as well, snorting at my shocked expression. I didn't know he was capable of actually being, you know, fun. Of course, as soon as someone glanced his way, he banished the look in mere milliseconds and went back to glaring.
time skippp
It was a couple of hours later. The boys had just finished a practice game, and were doing a cool down. I had been trying to work on my schoolwork for the past half hour, after getting permission from Kiyoko of course.
"What does this mean?" I growled, losing my patience. I was staring down at my paper, the confusing characters swimming before my eyes. This was so frustrating. I was super good at reading in *native language* ; in fact, I read all the time. It was so irritating that the one thing I had never had problems with before was torturing me now.
"What are you working on?" I looked up. It was Yams.
"Just stupid homework. I can't figure out how to read Japanese characters. It makes no sense!"
He leaned over my shoulder, crouching down at examining the paper. "Oh. You know, Tsuki could probably help you. He's really smart."
"Tsuki can do what?" His salty voice instantly said. I looked up, having to crane my head back forever far to see Tsukishima.
"Help y/n with her Japanese reading."
"Yeah, maybe if I wanted to torture myself," He scoffed. I narrowed my eyes. Well he didn't have to be so mean about it. I mean, I didn't want him to help me, but still.
"How about a competition? You beat me, you don't have to help me. If I win, you have to help." I smirked up at him, standing up. "I mean, you'll probably beat me right? It's just a friendly little competition."
He looked down, narrowing his eyes. I couldn't help but notice that he was extremely hot when he was competitive. I minutely shook my head. Don't think about that you idiot. "Fine. What do you want to do?"
I thought about it, then grinned. "How about we play a little three-on-three game of basketball? I noticed some balls in the closet and there are hoops in here."
He tilted his head. "Sure. I know how to play, just so you know. If you think you're getting one up on me you're sorely mistaken."
"Ok then. Who do you want on your team?"
"Tadashi, obviously. And uh, Kageyama. Get over here Kageyama! He's got the height. You?" Kageyama trotted over, a glare on his face. I got the feeling he didn't like Tsukishima.
I tilted my head, thinking. I wanted to say Noya, because maybe that would help him trust me more, but he wasn't very tall and I kind of doubted he knew how to play. And I was here to win."Hey, Sugawara? Daichi? Want to come help me destroy these little twerps?" I called across the gym.
They walked over. "Sure. What are we doing?" Sugawara asked.
"We're playing a little game of basketball. If we win, Tuskishima has to help me with my homework."
They grinned. "We're in."
After all of the volleyballs and the net were put away, I grabbed a basketball from the back while Diachi pushed a button to make the hoops unfold from up in the ceiling. We decided to play half-court, and we shot for the ball. We won possession of the ball. I grinned manically. It was time to destroy Tsukishima.
