(Chapter 11)(who's gonna keep me sane)

(Brantley's p.o.v)

I kissed Riley goodbye. Gemma had threatened Blaise enough that jax's kids stayed with us. "I'll be back , you keep them safe okay". I say. She nodded. I kissed her mouth gently. I bent down and kissed her belly.

BG and Jake went with me on this simple gun run. I hated that Blaise didn't feel safe, but I'm sure she'd be fine. I had hired a police man to protect her, I had befriended him a few years back. And he really clicked with Blaise and the kids.
Brantley rode his motorcycle back. And so did I , Jake drove his truck, his motorcycle was in the shop.
Something was up with the motor. "So that run was pretty easy huh ". BG says. "Yeah, easier than last time". I laughed remembering how bad last time was when Jake nearly got his nose broke.

Gemma ran in and shot the Reggie , the police man Jax had hired. I hadn't told him that the reason I needed protection was because of Gemma. "I told you'd regret this sweetheart , looks like Jax is gonna have to find a new old lady." She says. I went to grab my gun but was too late. She shot, my breath stopped.

I walked in the house and took my cut off, putting it on the hook. I saw legs, of a man, and blood. I pulled my gun from the back of my jeans.
I entered the room. "No!" I breathed. Blaise was laid motionless in a puddle of blood. I ran my fingers through my hair , I got down in the floor. I gathered her up in my arms like I had done many times with our kids. "No, you can't leave me". I whispered. "Who's gonna keep me sane". I say. Tears were falling off my face. I held her tighter than I ever. The phone rang but I ignored it. I put my hand on her face and kissed her, I held her for hours and hours. Then Brantley came in. "Hey man we tried to call, and see if you wanted to come and get... Damn.." He stopped. I held my wife, never letting go. Her heart had stopped, before I had gotten there. "You want me to call/
Brantley started, but I stopped him. "No, just leave me; please tell the kids as gently as possible." I say. I swayed rocking my wife's lifeless body, as if to rock her to sleep, like I did our kids when they were small. Brantley left me, out of respect. I had never held so tight to my wife.
