It was a stormy night; lightning can be heard clearly in the distance. The darkness of the night encompassing the entire forest only being lit by the cloud covered moon in the sky and but everything was not as well as planned. Adrenaline was piping through Oliver's veins after only nearly escaping the POW camp with the other captives. The guards did notice their escape quicker than anticipated and were on the hunt, loud gunshots and muzzle fire flooded the once calm forest. The shots getting ever closer and only barely missing. Soon search lights even filled the paths of where they were heading the others started to fall behind, soon losing each other. The only thing that was in his minds at the moment was just to run as fast as his legs could go. Before suddenly a loud snap he heard above and as he looked up a branch then darkness.

The next day arrives, he's awoken to slight splashes of drizzle onto his back and a mud filled puddle with a painful bruise on his head. Oliver realizes he got knocked out from a branch and miraculously he's still breathing. Even with the pain he stands back up and observe the situation. The air still wet after the storm and now the light rain while Oliver himself was drowned in the cold mud he fell upon too but his fellow prisoners were not in sight. Not even the slightest of footprints it felt like as this part of the woods has been untouched. After the night he may not be able to think the clearest but he pushes on as he wonders around the forest having not the slightest of clues to his whereabouts. As he thrusts onwards, he remembered that once crossing the river to the west if he is still heading that way, he should find the river that will lead him to his freedom or at least safeties. After a long while of walking through the silent forests till the night was in sight his blessings have come. The sound rushing water in the distance, though faint was still in range and in time's notice he had found it the river even with an old crackly bridge to make his way across. There was even a tiny hut which he could refugeed in for the night and so he did.

As he rested his head through the night a sound awoken him. Chatter in a foreign language he did not understand until he realized it might be the guards still looking for him, he had a choice either stay and hide or dash for it. Since it was now or never, he thought to himself dash it was. He opened the door of the hut and slowly went to the bridge till one of the planks that were suppose to be the floors of the bridge broke in a loud crack that got the guards attentions. Realizing what had went down he ran for it. The guards closely behind all he did and thought was to run, get the hell out of there. After running for who knows how long he spots something in the distance. Two men but they wore a different uniform. Oliver thought to himself if this was it as he ponders behind to see the guards had lost him again. His freedom finally here until those men pulled up their rifles and aimed at him. Oliver was confused till the shots were fired; he then realized those men may not be so neutral after all. With no plan on what to do he tried to run back into the woods but before being able another loud bang came and this time it got him in the leg. This was it he thought to himself after everything he went to and after everything, he planned the dead end is in sight and it very much is as the guards once again took aim and fired then silence went back to the forest. As Oliver lies on the ground the battle still rages on and soon more people just like him would perish.
