𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠

you make me feel
like i'm young again.
the way you look at me
makes me believe
that love exists in this world.
no matter how many times
my heart breaks it heals
and returns to you every time.
i can feel you watching me
as i go about my life and for
me that is enough.
feeling you when my heart is
breaking and my mind is
aching reminds me i can be
okay again.
i wish i wouldn't have been so
stupid and that i would
have taken the time to be with you
and to choose you.
but i was stupid and i
ran away from every worry with
my life clenched tightly between my
fists.
i wonder rather often if you
ever thought about me when you
were pulling the tarp or running around
the field.
did you ever drive back around at
sunset just to watch the way the sunlight
glistened off of the metal of that field?
did you ever look out the window on your
drive home, watching the rain fall down
and think of the way we used
to talk about the rain and even the time
when i ran into the parking lot
and you ran after me, laughing?
i miss those days,
but when i'm with you,
they exist again.
when i'm with you,
i'm happy again.
