My eyes fluttered open.

It was pitch black, and I could hear the incessant whirring of machines in the voids around me.

But then a pure light flickered above me. When I looked up at it I saw a bright blue eye. It was shining a light at me as I looked at it. It flickered and twitched to different parts of my body. I squinted against it.

What is that...and where am I...?

I don't remember anything. Even the aspect of what I am or who I was. The hard metal of my hands felt uncertainly surreal against the cold floor. The darkness of the room was suffocating.

Confusion and fear filled my mind as I tried to crawl away from it. I couldn't feel my legs so I dragged my body, pushing my hands off the ground. The scratching of metal on the floor filled the room. I only stopped when sudden pain shot through my head.

I clutched my face in both hands as I caressed my metallic temples. Why do I have a headache all a sudden? And what is this eye in the dark... does it know anything of where I am?

I peaked above my hands covering my face. The eye was patiently waiting. I mustered up the energy to speak to it, my voice would be rusty from misuse.

When tried, a low whine emitted from my throat. Panic surged through my body, why can't I speak...? My mind buzzed with frantic explanations.

The eye blinked in response, moving closer to me. I started to back away from it again, only to hit the wall behind me.

When close enough, the eye shone a bright blue light. It skimmed across my body until it hit the destined spot before stopping. The beam was comforting. It stayed there for a few moments until shutting off. Then the eye waited.

I tenderly felt the area on my neck where it scanned. It was warm, like the radiant sunshine warming your skin on a hot summer day. I attempted to speak again; feeling determination enter my mind.

"W...what are y-you?"

The eye floated around me, inspecting me with its brilliant blue pupil.

It finally answered, "I am a Ghost." It paused a moment before continuing on with better assurance, "well, actually...your Ghost."

Its voice startled me, both feminine and soft in nature. I looked at it...no...her with wide eyes, she called herself a Ghost...my Ghost?...Why did that sound familiar?

I asked her another question, "...where...are we?"

She responded after a moment's hesitation, "we're currently somewhere in the Deep Stone Crypt."

Questions rapidly flowed into my head, "what is that? Why are we here?" I blurted as I tried to get up.

Alarms suddenly started blaring, echoing throughout the rooms and corridors:

"Unauthorized crypt access, remove yourselves immediately."

The ghost gasped before frantically shining her light around the room. She was obviously looking for something. I struggled again to get up, trying to tone out the increasingly annoying alarm.

I felt around myself in the dark until my arm connected with a nearby table. I shoved myself, front flat, on top of it. I peeked behind my left shoulder at the maimed in mild disdain. My legs swayed limply below me, useless but still mostly intact. I looked around the room at this new angle, I could see most of the red lights dimly lighting up parts of the room. While a few of them flashed incessantly to the refrain of the alarm.

My ghost was at a terminal nearby, light emitted from its eye as it scanned the screen.

"What's happening?" I felt myself stoically ask.
