Training with the rest of the cadets had been difficult. I wasn't as physically strong as most but, similar to Armin, I had a decent mind. My grades kept up while the physical portion of training took its toll on me. I was grateful for Reiner, as he really helped me a lot with my ODM gear. In multiple occasions when my anchor hadn't hooked on a tree, him and Bertolt had to save me from falling.

It was breakfast on a day off. We had just finished the first year exams and were given two days as a reward. I sat with Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. Sasha and Connie were across from us and cheering loudly at their passing scores. I sipped my low quality potato soup and scanned the room for Reiner. I had half plans to go exploring with my pseudo siblings, but honestly, I was hoping to run into Reiner. I wished we would bump into each other again and he would ask me to spend his day off with him. Mikasa saw the stars on my eyes, unfortunately.

"He's just at the next table, Y/N." She doesn't even look up from her meal before speaking. I can feel the heat on my cheeks and quickly take a sip of my drink. The goal was to distract my friends from my embarrassment. Not that it helped as Eren smirked, but Armin cocked his head in a confused manner.

"Thank you," I mumbled low. My blush stayed and Mikasa nodded in response. I got up to walk over to Reiner. Maybe I should just ask him myself, I thought. He would say yes to spending our free time together, right? My palms became wet with sweat as I clenched my fists. I was so nervous to ask as I knew I had romantic feelings for Reiner. This would be more than a friends spending time together, it would be a date.

I walked over to Reiner's table and sat on a seat, putting my lunch down. Reiner was in the middle of a conversation with his friends, but he looked my way and gave me a sweet smile. I bit my lip before smiling back and felt a blush rise to my cheeks again. I finished my soup quickly to allow him to finish his sentence before greeting him.

"Good afternoon Reiner. How was the lunch for you?" I gave him a closed eye smile as I fumbled with my thumbs underneath the table.

"So polite today, Y/N. You nervous?" Reiner laughed and gave a big grin before finishing his food as well. I looked away shyly then realized when he finished eating he would leave before I got the chance to ask.

"Reiner, I wanted to ask if you could spend the day with me." I looked into his hazel eyes that I could swear sparkled in the light, waiting for an answer.

"Duh, I was just about to grab you when I finished eating. You don't have to ask anymore, you know." He reached for both of our empty bowls and walked over to the dirty dishes drop off station. He waved me over and gave his two friends a glare to not follow.

Reiner and I walked in silence to the stables. He motioned to my horse and helped me get on it. I gulped nervously, since I was just following his orders. I had no idea what his plans were, but I didn't want to ruin the time we had together.

Once I was saddled in properly, Reiner got on his horse then we head out past the gates enclosing us in the training area. Reiner laughed and kept cracking his perverted jokes that I've grown to appreciate. I was really falling for his warm personality and how he seemed so comfortable.

"I think we should start off with more food, my treat. Maybe we could share a loaf of bread?" Our horses drew closer together and Reiner nudged into me. I blushed, quickly looking away. I simply nodded and he jumped off his horse, leading both to a nearby post.

"We could also just walk around and get lost in this town. I'm in good company so I wouldn't mind losing my way with you." He winked at me while helping me down.

"Bread sounds yummy right now," I squeak out, obviously embarrassed. Reiner just threw his head back and laughed. He grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug, encasing me with his woodland scent. Amazing how warm and homey his hugs are. They always take my breath away, not only because he hugs tight but I feel as though my heart physically stops beating each time.

"Let's go, Princess." He releases from the hug and pulls my wrist along, taking me to a nearby bakery.

Did he just call me princess? He's never called me a pet name before, nothing that wasn't my name. Does that mean he's my prince? Does he know this is a date and not a friendly date like we have had before but a real date that could turn us into more than friends?

Shocked, I run to keep up with Reiner's fast pace. His legs are so much longer than mine and his walk is quick. I see a little red color his cheeks, but that probably was due to him moving so fast. It didn't have anything to do with the fact he called me princess, right? Maybe he didn't mean it.
