"So. You're new here." I said to the new girl.
"Uhh, yeah. You must be Lena." She said back.
"Indeed. And you're Grace."
She paused before taking a sip of her cherry slushie.
I had sat down with the new girl, Grace, at lunch. If she needed to get through this year, she needed my help. Maybe if she was at a different school, she could get by, but this is Fantasy High School. And it doesn't show mercy.
Fantasy High School is a school located in Tasmania. It's located there because it's an island with few people, lots of trees, and a nice view. You're probably wondering why it's in Tasmania.
We love Australians.
I'm totally kidding.
This is a high school where kids can talk to their friends across the school without a cell phone. Where they can know what we're having for lunch a year in advance.
This is a high school... where we all have powers.
It's basically like Sky High and Glee mixed together.
Except we have dorms. Yeah, I know, dorms are for college. But most of the kids just come and move here. To be at the only place where they can express who they really are. At the cost of 1000 dollars and eight cents of course.
So it's basically like a college campus. With food stands and drunk frat boys and slutty cheerleaders.
But high school has one thing college doesn't....
A main bitch.
"Get out of my way, you loser!" Wendy Madison screamed from across the lunch room.
She had bumped into Ned. The head nerd.
He turned into a cheetah and sprinted away. His power is shape shifting. His best friend, Mark, disappeared into an mp3 player. He can travel through electronics. Honestly, his power's pretty cool.
"What's that all about?" Grace asked.
"Wendy McBitchyBitch thinks anyone that's getting up to get another slushie, is in her way." I explained. "She's the main bitch of the school. Basically Regina George, but worse."
"Lena, what happened?" My friend Su asked.
We met freshman year when I told her to do a Algebra test for me. She said she didn't know the answers and I said, "You're Asian. The test probably tells you them." And somehow, someway, we became friends. Her real name's Sumiko, which ironically means 'smart girl' in Japanese, but everyone just calls her Su.
"Wendy bumped into Ned. Ned and Mark ran. Same story."
"Damn. I wish Ned would just shift into a tiger and maul her skanky ass down."
"Wow. You guys really hate Wendy, don't you?" Grace cut in.
We turned and looked at her.
"Su, this is Grace, the new girl." I said. "And we have a lot to teach her."
~~~
"Hey, guys." Johnny said as he sat down at our lunch table.
Johnny was another one of my close friends. He's very immature and his hormones are like any teenage boys, but he's also hilarious and always there for me.
Grace got up to go get a napkin.
"Woah. Who's the new bitch." Johnny said.
I pinched him.
"Ow!" He exclaimed.
"She's not a bitch. And you will not touch her, got it?"
"Ok! Geez, Lena!" He paused. "But she called me cute."
"We talked about this!" Su yelled. "No getting in heads."
"Hey! That's not fair! And it's not like I can control it." Johnny replied.
His power is mind reading. It may seem kind of useless, but it does come in handy. One time, a douche nozzle jock named Alan made a comment about me and Su's butts and Johnny kicked him in the balls. Normally, that wouldn't have worked out good, but Johnny knew he was gonna punch him in the face before it happened. So he ducked and Alan busted his hand on a locker.
Su and I glared at him.
"Ok! Fine, fine, fine... only because I love you guys." Johnny said.
We rolled our eyes.
Grace came back.
Can you believe they ran out of napkins?" Grace said. Can you believe they ran out of napkins?" Grace said.
We laughed.
"What?" She asked.
"We have a lot to teach her." Johnny stated.
"Come on." I said before leaving the cafeteria.
