He was walking down the hall--Ash.
Clink clink click. The thing he's holding makes when it taps on the stone floor.
You're probably wondering what he's holding, well, that's for a little bit later.
"Get out of the way, blind boy." A person laughed as they pushed Ash into a wall, making him hit his shoulder on the wall.
"Ouch." Whispered Ash.
Ash hasn't been feeling the greatest, either. He's had this disability for almost a year now.
~flashback~
~one year earlier~"Ash..." His mother whispers, choking on a sob.
"What is it mom?" Ash says quietly, scared to know the answer.
"You'll end up going conpletly blind." His mother says as she sobs into his shoulder after pulling him into a tight hug.
Ash's eyes widen as he stays still, slowly holding into his mother as tears fill his eyes. Slowly, he lays his head on his mom's.
~flashback ended~
Just gotta keep moving. Ash thought as he forced himself to stand up straight. Clutching his cane tightly in his hand. He feels the good grip he has on his cane. He took a shaky breath and goes to his next class. Clink, clink, clink. The noise goes from the tip of his cane and all the way to his ears and his fingertip.
"Oh, there you are Ashtian!"
Ash recognized the voice immediately; it's his science teacher, Mrs. Adams.
"Hi Mrs. Adams." Ash whispered, feeling eyes on him. "Sorry I'm late, I couldn't find my way again."
"It's quite alright my dear, come on, let me help you get in your seat."
Ash was grateful for her. Mrs. Adams was his favorite teacher. Immediately the first day he walked into the classroom and saw-just barely-Mrs. Adams, she was about as tall as him. So about 5'2, green eyes, dark brown hair, pale skin. She has been very kind to him, and Ash has been kind to her.
Ash heard snickers as he found Mrs. Adams arm and hold it as she brought him to his seat.
"Okay." Mrs. Adams began after Ash got settled in his seat. "Today will be about cells."
Everyone besides Ash groaned loudly.
"Oh come on now." Mrs Adams chided. "Everyone take out their laptops and start reading the article i put up for you." Ash heard her footsteps echo forward his desk, a hand getting placed on his shoulder. He hearf her whisper in his ear. "Here's your headphones, if you don't want to hear it then i have a paper copy in braile for you." After that, Ash noded as Mrs. Adams footsteps echo into a different direction.
Ash put on the headphones and played it as he read it off his paper.
Ash started thinking about what the kids have told him. Ash rememberef the first time he used his cane. It was horrible feeling all the eyes on him as he walked past. He remembered the first few weeks like that, after the kids were done with his shock, they started calling him names;blind bat, blind boy, faker, all kinds of names. But one insult that still hit him hard till this day was; "no one will ever love you. You'll be alone forever." Ash has always wanted a lover, but he just never found one. The girls that he's asked somewhere have never shown up. They say that they did but nobody did. He used to have a best friend, name leo-...
Ash's body shook as he heard the bell go. Everyone laughed as Ash heard everyone leave.
He heard Mrs. Adams sighing with irrstion as she helpd Ash out of his seat and clean up his stuff. "Oh dear, I'm sorry you still have to deal with that. Just remember if you need me, you know where my room is." She guided Ash to the door as Ash noded. "Thank you Mrs. Adams"
He heard the smile on her face as she whisperd;"anytime dear."
Ash walked out of the class into the hallway of horrors. He heard laughter and snickers from behind him.
"--- you know, i should get one of those canes and act blind and i won't have to deal with any homework." A kid whisperd to someone as they all laugh loudly.
"I bet he has all A's just because he's there." Another whisperd, them all laughing harder.
Ash decided to quickly walk to his next class as fast as possible without running into anything.
Too much to ask when you're blind and filled in a school with highschoolers that make it their job to bully him.
He ran into someone. Hearing some girl yelp, as he quickly stood up.
"Hey!" She screeched. Ash recognized the voice immediately; he's known her since seventh grade. She was always the jerk-ish popular girl. Her name is Carrie Johnson.
"S--sorry." Ash whispered as he felt someone push him hard forward. He stumbled as he kept walking, hearing people pity over Carrie.
As quick as he could, he put his hands on the side of the wall feeling each room number looking for number 346.
After a few minutes he found it, going up one staircase, five steps, clink clink clink. His cane goes every time he steps.
This was pretty normal for Ash. It was the usual day of bullying and such, till he heard people muttering about a rumor.
"----anothrr blind kid?" A kid whisperd to their friend.
Another kid? Ash wondered in his mind as he listened to the clink, clink, clink Of his cane as he walked.
As Ash was walking to his last class of the day, he heard another clink, clink, clink. For the first time ever, it wasn't his cane making that noise.
He felt someone's cane tip hit his gently by accendent.
"Hey." A deep boy's voice whispered.
