Tempting Fate

Chapter 5

As I took my phone from the coffee table a message came through from Rocky saying, “Tonight I am taking you out for dinner to meet my friends. So dress nicely please. I will pick you up at eight o’clock.” It was seven so I got up and started to get ready.

After the most wonderful shower, I walked over to my closet to see what I can wear. Deciding on a long black dress with my knee-high boots and brown winter coat, I got ready. Rocky walked in as I was putting the last bobby pin in my hair. “Hi Beautiful, do you mind putting on these glasses and mask?” he asked. Turning around I saw that he had fruit fly goggles in his hand and a black mask. “Uhm okay but why?” I asked walking over to him.

“Just don’t do it for me. Later this evening you will find out why” he said as he led me to the black SUV. One very long and one very dark ride later we stopped at this restaurant. Rocky opened the door for me and gave me his hand so I can climb out. Taking my hand, he put in his jacket pocket and led us into the restaurant.

Looking around I saw that there was not a single table occupied except for the one in the middle of the room. Seven chairs around the table with the lights turned down to a dim glow. This is seriously making me nervous. Rocky pulled out my chair for me and then sat down himself. Pouring us both a glass of water, I took a big gulp of mine when he said, “No need to be nervous love you will love this surprise.”

Giving him an “are you sure look”. I searched the table for something to eat. Just as I took a bite, five men came walking in. Sitting down they all greeted me. I smiled back and then they started taking their masks off one by one. I was still chewing on my bread, but when the last guy took off his mask that is when I chocked on the bread. Trying to get oxygen in my lungs with no success, I took a sip of water to try to get the bread down my throat. When the last guy actually stood up to come and try and help that pushed my nerves over the edge. The fact he is freaking Cha Eunwoo does not help. That gorgeous face is enough to let any woman melt in front of him.

Rocky stood up and told Eunwoo to go and sit down. He handed me a glass of water and told me to calm down. About a hundred breaths later, I got my nerves back and looked down the table. How many more of my favourite kpop groups would come into my life without my knowing? First Doyoung being part of NCT and now I’m dating one of the best dancers in kpop, let alone that my favourite actor is also in his group that I died one to many times over because of his dramas.

Rocky put his hands on my shoulder and said, “Babe, I wanted to tell you but I could see that you like Astro a lot but Janke told me to wait a few weeks after Doyoung broke the news to you. I did this because it was eating me up inside for lying to you. So please don’t be mad.” I looked at him flabbergasted. Glancing down the table I looked back at Rocky and said, “How on earth can I be mad at you. I am more irritated with myself yet again because I have photos of all of you around my room and yet I did not put two and two together. What is even more annoying is that I am busy watching Eunwoo’s new drama True Beauty and I recognized him instantly but you I could not seem to place at all until now.”

Rocky stood up, placed a soft kiss to my forehead, and said, “Honestly Love I don’t mind one bit that you did not instantly recognized me. In fact, I was actually glad because you got to like me for me and not my fame. So what do you say why don’t we just enjoy this dinner while you get to know the rest of the group?”

The evening turned to be quite nice actually despite my near death experience. I got to learn more about them as a group that I did not know. Now MJ is my new favourite person. The man has made me laugh more times in one night than I have laughed this entire year. They all gave me my number and they saved mine as well.

In the ride home I fell asleep on his shoulder and when I woke up next, he was busy taking off my shoes for me. “Goodnight my love I will see you in the morning,” he said taking hair out of my face. In my sleepiness, I grabbed his and pulled him back before he can leave. “No please stay. I need you to stay with me tonight,” I mumbled.

Rocky POV

Monique actually took the news okay, which I was glad about, now I have nothing to hide from her anymore. In the ride home, her head fell on my shoulder and she was sound asleep. I guess the night’s events took a toll on her but I am not complaining. When the driver stopped in front of her house, I picked her up to carry her into the house.

She looked so peaceful I did not want to disturb her. Opening her door, I walked straight to her room to lie her down on her bed. As I took off her shoes, she woke up. Walking over to her side, I sat down and slowly stroked the hair out of her face. “Goodnight my love I will see you in the morning,” I said standing up. Just as I turned around she mumbled, “No please stay. I need you to stay with me tonight.” Smiling I kissed her on the cheek and went down to the car and got the bag I keep for when it is needed.

I sent the driver home and told him I will let him know in the morning to come and pick me up. Back in Monique’s room, she was sound asleep again. Taking a shower and drying my hair, I walked over to the bed. As soon as she felt the shift on the bed, she got ahold of my arm and pulled me down to her.  Climbing underneath the blankets, I pulled her closer and slowly we both drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms.
