Today was a day like no other, Cathy felt a chill in the summer morning. As she woke up slowly ready for high school, she had a terrible feeling that the day was going to end badly. With no clue as to what that feeling meant, cluelessly she carried out her morning. She walked down her steps slowly had smelled the smell of alcohol and burnt food. Cathy lived with 2 brothers Paul and Abe, her dad Jeff and her mom Rebecca. When she walked down the steps to the bottom she turned to look at all the mess that was in her living room. She couldn't figure out why anyone else didn't smell this. Cathy started to feel dizzy and queezy. Her back-pack dropped to the floor with a thud, then she paced back up the stairs. Checking each room but her's, she found no one home and then she called everyones cell phones, strangely they were all at home too!
So Cathy ran down the steps and out the front door, she noticed that every neighbor's yard was wrecked and the windows to the houses were broken. confused and worried she hurried to pick up her phone and called her Grandma Sally.
"Grandma I'm so scared right now!"
"What's wrong my dear?"
"Everyones GONE! I woke up this morning and no one in my neighborhood is here."
"Well my dear there is only one thing I have to tell you, "
The phone line went dead, Cathy lost all reception. Scared to death she runs into her house and turns on the Tv. Static... nothing was working at all!
"How in the stupid place of Arizona could things get any worse!"
Suddenly there was a knock at the door, she only sits and stares back, not moving one muscle. Patiently the noise stopped, but a voice came from the vents in her house and whispered, "We want you, come join us." This strange voice kept repeating until it grew louder and louder, Cathy closed her eyes trying to block out the voice, then she became dizzy and fainted.
When Cathy awoke, she had finally figured out where everyone was.... in her memories all Cathy knew was that she was in her home and no one was home. "Where am I?" As her memory served no purpose she quickly went to the police station just on the edge of the town.
"Hey, um I'd hate to bother you but where am I. Exactly? Because I sort of rember everyone disappearing?"
The police officier gave her a look of concern, rather than telling her the truth, he laughed at her and told her to go home. Instantly she remembered that it was early morning when she was just previously awake. She walked fast back to her house and noticed that all the neighbors were staring at her as they all stood in their yards. She rushed in the door and slammed it behind her, and clenched her eyes tightly.
"Cathy, sweetie are you ok? Why did you slam the door?"
Cathy's eyes opened fast to the surprise of seeing her brother Paul looking at her in total confusion.
"Paul, can I tell you something, and promise me you won't laugh!"
"Sure...what is it?"
"I feel like this place isn't real? I'm not sure how, but my last thought was where'd everyone go. I think we're in another world?"
"Haaahaaa, serious?"
As he walked away he slowly started to realize what she said. Cathy stood there in the hallway running her fingers through her long dark hair. Paul rushed back up to her and pulled her into the basement.
"I think your right! I don't remember begin in this place, it doesn't feel real to me."
Cathy smiled at Paul as a symbol for thanking him that he understood her. But her grin faded quickly as their father opened the basement door.
"What are you two doing down here anyway? It's too nice outside, and Cathy Mrs. Burgeon wants to see you."
Mrs. Burgeon is the quite old lady that no one understands, she was known for fortune telling and spells oof magic. Paul and Cathy looked at each other and right away realized that they were not at home!
"Cathy we have to do something, look out this window here. I felt like I been here long enough to notice this big building way over there... see it?"
"Yeah I do. What is that thing Paul?"
"Well I think it's the central communications, or the things that brought us here! I tried talking to Abe but he started to talk funny and attempted to kill me. I had to hurt him, but I don't think it will really kill him."
Cathy and Paul walked into town and there again people started to stare only at her! They both had no clue what to expect when they reached that mysterious building. When they approached it and entered they found nothing but a white empty void of space. In the very far distance it looked like home city they used to live in.
"Paul! Do you see that down there? Look I think I see everyone?"
"Look theres even your school bus that just passed our house!"
As they turned to stare at each other, they both looked back at the door. Everyone in the replica city was starting to corwd the door, coming closer. But the question was... who where all the people they have been looking at? Then Cathy and Paul jumped into the white empty void, hoping to land in the reality they knew was real.
